My MIL on the other hand the Commander in Chief. Master manipulator and guilt. She was going to pay 'some' of the expenses to a reunion to Colorado but putting us in one large condo with his other two brothers and their families. We would have to drive too. We planned vacation time for Disney. TOLD no you've been there a lot. We opted out of Colorado and then were told if we didn't go to Colorado nobody could go then, everyone's Colorado vacation balanced in our decision. We went to Disney. I'm a big fan of being asked not told. Or at the very least, this is what I'd like to do....what do you guys think?

O.k. Let me get this straight: your MIL said that if you don't go to Colorado, the nobody could go?! :jawdrop: Heck, you must be the life of the party for that group--if they can't have fun without you!!! :p No offense to your rellies, but they sound like a dull group!

In all my years of working, I think only one job I had was not stressful. This is not to say it's daily or anything, but I can assure you there are times when I think I'm going to implode in there . . . :banghead:

Doing design for 4 different partners can get pretty crazy at times. Although we have set standards for producing CDs (Construction Documents), their standards can vary greatly on the design details...
Minimum 4' wide hallways/galleries vs. 5' - 6', min. door sizes, wall thicknesses, ceiling heights, etc. Although, much of that is also, obviously, client driven, they will discuss with our clients the reasons why they consider those minimums and show them examples.
It could get pretty crazy trying to keep it all straight sometimes, so I took general notes I would review as I started a project for a particular partner. Although they adjust their standards from time to time based on various reasons, I have pretty much had them straight for a long time now.
Other than that, there are demanding clients, crazy deadlines, carp rolling downhill because a partner is having issues with a demanding client, etc. So, yes, just the basic job stress the vast majority of us seem to deal with.
But, ultimately, so many others on this planet have so many worse things to deal with, and although it's all relative, I really can't complain too much. :)

I'm assuming that turning your computer on and halfway after loading, the screen goes dark means goodbye.

My TV broke Friday too. I pressed the power button and loud pop = no more TV

Oh dear . . . sounds like it's time to break out the credit card. (Either that, or go buy a book of crossword puzzles --my grandfather used to spend hours every day with his pencil and his crossword puzzles. Worked for him! ;) )

I'm right with you on that. We have a nickname for two of our bosses at work.

jekyll_hyde.png

Yep, they all differ.
One is very type A, and J&H...he can be the nicest guy on the planet, and then turn right around and be the biggest jackass on the planet. This is the guy that will do things like close the office in the middle of the afternoon to take us all to a movie when the 3 other partners are out of town, and be angry as a bear the next day.
One of the others is so laid back, it's actually kinda' funny sometimes. He will chuckle about things the first one I mentioned will go off on.
I walk by his office many times while he's perusing a magazine or something with his feet up on his desk...!!! :hilarious:
The other 2 are pretty chill, for the most part, although the one can get pretty hyper at times.
The funny thing is, they have regular Monday lunches together to try and keep up with everything, and are actually a pretty good mix. It seems to work for them...and most of us...! ;)

We have one tomorrow. We can dress up.

Guess who is not dressing up.

Yep, same here. The firm has had Halloween costume contests as far back as I can remember.
I participated in many, but, haven't in recent years...leavin' that to the young folk now, although that could change in the future...! ;)
Until this year, first prize was always $150, second $100, and third $50.
This year, for the first time, instead, they're giving 8 hrs. vacation to first place, 4 to second, 2 to third, and candy to fourth...!!! :hilarious:
At my present hourly rate this would be a heckuva' lot larger than any possible prize I could have won in previous years... :cyclops:
Although, like you, I'm not costuming either...
Maybe next year...! ;)

This reminds me of a guy I knew years ago. He was a photographer, and he did a lot of food advertising photos for magazines, and box photos for pots and pans, etc. (What you immediately see on a box in a store has incredible power--you'll either stop and look, or move on--thousands of dollars in potential sales revenue, hanging on the "right" photo.) He had some big-name clients. I recall one shoot he was doing with a designer, and it was for a wok with fresh veggies on the side (to add interest) in the photo. To get that "perfect" shot, he took hundreds of pictures, and they were there for close to 12 hours! :jawdrop: I had no idea the amount of work that goes into a professional photo shoot like that.

Sounds a bit familiar. About 12-15 years ago (best I can remember...and I worked retail for a while, and slept since then...!!! :hilarious:  ;)) we had clients that we designed a huge house for out in the Texas Hill Country.
Ya' know what they did for a living to make all that money...?! They photographed jewelry for ads. Yep, that's all they did, but, they apparently did it very well for some of the most heavy hitters in the industry.
I had never heard of anything like that before, but, it just amazed me about the creative things people can do to make a living, and then some, and their dreams come true...!!!!! :)

Hot Glue Guns, Liquid Nails and Super Glue are my friends.

Crafts in N. IL are still a thing. Lots of shows. I'd say at least half have become far more refined, items with a purpose and have more of a classy look with price tags that go along with it. I love to attend to get ideas and most of the fairs support a cause.

Yep, same here...it is Austin, after all...!!!! :hilarious:

Crisis averted. I put one of my backups in from Time Machine and it worked. Of course the thing that works is the very last thing you try.
