I've never been able to use cortana. I have tried and never get through the sign up process. I'll establish my e-mail and my password, but, after it accepts all that, it doesn't let me go forward saying that I am not authorized and that I should sign in. I just did, dammit, how many times do I have to go through the same garbage.

Ok, (obviously) I am back home and semi over the jetlag, so I plan to do a trip report. BUT (and this is a big but) I have never done one before, have no idea how to do one, and I realized I did not take NEARLY enough notes. So...read it at your own risk (and to your own detriment). I haven't started it yet, and I'm going to have to post in pieces because there's no way I can cover a month long trip in one post. Also, it won't be just Disney, so it may not be of interest to anyone but me. You have been warned. Now...let the rambling begin!!!
You guys take this stuff way to seriously. Notes??? Really? What I don't remember isn't worth repeating. Even most of what I do remember isn't worth repeating. It's better to be reporting emotionally then from a script anyway. So, just go for it, I'm sure it will be fine.

This is pretty normal when the computer has some special hardware components that are not "average".
or for example, are of a very generic product series and windows cant find the proper one in the thousands of variations.
it happened to me with a SATA pci express card. the chipset was very generic but the card was also generic. It kept trying to install the driver from another brand that had tiny differences in specs, thus kept failing.
had to install things manually.
This one is just an off-the-shelf HP. The first thing they had us do was verify that we had all the latest HP drivers loaded...

Okay, I just got back on and all the likes, I posted on this page had disappeared. I hope these stick. I have a problem, called for the six month appointment, and found out my Doctor, of 17 years retired 3 month's ago. We weren't notified of his retirement. Out looking for a new Dr. Is it standard practice not to notify patients of their Dr.'s retirement. I'm feeling pretty angry at the moment. I never connected with the Dr. that owned the practice. She is extremely rude, and short, Dr. Jennifer Arnold, at Village Family Practice. She kept Dr. Nell Davis, also rude and short. So, it's time to look elsewhere. I'm thinking of a geareactric (sp) Dr. It would probably be a better fit. So tired of this practice training people to do blood draws, I've had five, with getting no blood. I Think I need to move on. At this age, it's not easy for me. I've never had a nicer or better Dr. then Gary McKenna.

Oh I don't take it remotely seriously. It's just everyone wants a trip report and I was gone for a month...my memory is like swiss cheese. Full of holes. So I planned to take notes to remember all those funny little moments, but I kept forgetting. I also kept forgetting to take food pictures. We were halfway through the vacation and my daughter kept saying "Mom, FOOD PICTURES!!" and it was always when the food was almost gone. Oops.

I understand, I get so hungry with all the walking at Disney. I forget until I'm well into the plate. I re-arrange the plate and take the picture. I guess I should notify everyone, that half is already gone.

Yup. I can't stand Cortana. Only works half the time. I disabled her.

Siri is the most fun to joke around with. I've asked Siri to build a snowman and marry me so many times. She refuses every time.:angelic:

But as far as a useful personal assistant, Google on Android is the best. Shows me exactly what I'm interested in, even shows me information about where I am. For instance, I just looked, and it was showing that I'm in AK, which I am. Yesterday, it asked if I wanted to tag a photo I took at TSM to being located at TSM. And I can say "Okay Google" in a noisy room, and because I programmed it to recognize only my voice, it'll hear me. Although it also picks up my mom's voice as well.

the login they ask is for your hotmail account, not a local computer account. that might be the problem.
hence why many do not like cortana. Because it ties and is as invasive as google in your android phone, it knows everything you do.

I cooked hamburger helper and spaghetti this morning. My grandson takes food I cook to work with him for his lunches. It's much better, and certainly cheaper than him eating take out. I portion everything out in those great single serving bowls/containers that they sell at the dollar store. He's not particular about what I make, although sometimes when I run out of ideas, I ask for requests.

Hey, would you mind sending a few of those servings my way--I have a microwave at work and it would be very convenient! ;)

By the way, about the right side of your face, I hope that you can get some helpful meds for that. Sometimes when you treat a condition at the start of symptoms, you can better control it, so that it doesn't get too serious. That's just a general observation of mine through the years.

That's lousey about the doctor who retired. I've often thought that finding a good doctor is like finding a good car mechanic--once you luck out and find a very good one, you stick with him for years.

Some places will notify patients when a doctor moves on to another practice, or retires. I always felt that was the decent thing to do (if, for no other reason, you have paid money for services, and were a customer of the doctor for many years). That's right--it's a business, pure and simple, and good customers deserve respect. However, not all places notify patients and you only find out when you call to schedule an appt. That's very frustrating and quite a let down.

Just wondering if you've asked around to maybe a church group, for example, in your area--if others might refer you to a doctor that they like. Have you ever looked up doctor reviews on local sites like Yelp? (I wouldn't solely rely on Yelp, but sometimes you can pick up a tip here or there.) Are you a member of AARP? I wonder if they have a members' forum where you might be able to ask others for recommendations?
