The Chit Chat Chit Chat Thread

Hey all. Sorry I've not been on in a while. Sheesh, this new job is a lot of work. But I've seen a few shows here in NYC, and here is a brief pictorial before I collapse in bed before another 6AM wakeup - argghhhh.

A few weeks ago, I actually paid for a ticket to see CATS. Naturally Phil refused so I was on my own. In this case, Phil may have been correct. I went to a Mexican restaurant before the show, and the waiter saw me looking at my ticket and then brought me a free margarita and said "You'll need it if you're going to sit through that."

Then onto the show:

A week later, I went to see Matilda, which was a lot of fun:

And tonight I saw The Color Purple which was absolutely amazing in every way.

I still haven't booked a trip to the world, but I hope to do so soon. I hope all of you are doing very well. Back to you soon.

;)
Why the margarita for CATS? because of how long it lasts?

Havent seen matilda and only heard of Color Purple. seems you had a lot of fun at the theater world.

Looks like I found the right place to start. The Chit Chat thread. I am a chit chatter so I guess i will fit in. I am Bella and I just got home from WDW a few days ago with my family/ This vacation was extra special for me because it celebrated me graduating High School and I even got Disney Grad Photos one of which I am using as my avatar.

Instead of a Fitbit for your mom, how about something more low key/low tech like an ankle pedometer? Maybe she might be interested in one of those. Just a thought . . .

Actually FitBits are not all that high tech. I have one. You put it on your wrist and done. Trust me if I didn't need anyone to teach me how to use it (like my iPhone lol) anyone could.

We shall see how this weekend goes, my Sis is coming in for a few days, the first time since my Dad passed. Sis wants my Mom to get an iPhone. Months ago I tried to teach my Mom how to look at photos on my iPhone. She just could grasp that touch and swipe. She kept pressing so hard with her index finger you'd thought she would have broken the glass. My Dad was very good at the iPad we gave him a couple years ago and he didn't break it like my Mom said he would. She never would touch it. I wish my Sis luck. Sis seems to think my Mom will then be able to order herself Uber cars. Hahahahaha!

I hide money on myself too, but sometimes I do find something I legitimately lost or forgot I put somewhere. I was cleaning out a drawer once and found $1000 in a bank envelope. I don't know how I forgot about that. I think it was money I had set aside for Disney or something (that is where it ended up).

I also used to put a $10 or $20 in my winter or spring coats when I put them away for the season. So I would "find" a little bonus next season. I didn't do that this year though.

After Dad passed found $750 in one of those drawstring bags 'Gold Nugget' bubble gum use to come in. It caught my eye because in my entire life I never saw my Dad chew gum-EVER.

Actually the only candy my Dad ever ate were better end chocolates. He had a big weakness for chocolate.

I agree about cold soups, those are just plain weird. And I wish I could do my grocery shopping all online. I'm feeling like a big homebody right now and don't feeling like leaving the house but we really need groceries. Good thing a friend called to see about lunch today otherwise I probably would have put off shopping another day. The grocery store is right across the street from where we're having lunch so if I avoid it but I'm just really too lazy.

I really hate grocery shopping. Decades of shopping for family became so old. That put it in cart, take out-put on belt, put back in cart, take out of cart put in truck, take out of truck and haul in, unpack and put away. Ahhhhhhhhhhh. Yeah 1st world problems but it doesn't change my opinion of the chore. :joyfull:

At some point I am going to try Amazon Prime Pantry, online grocery delivery for $5.99 for 40 pound box. I seriously could just keep adding to my online order and push the button. Delivered to my door, all I'd have to do is put away. I would not hate grocery shopping so much if all I had to do was pick up bread, eggs etc., meat, veggies and fruit. The kinda stuff you want to pick out yourself for freshness and expiration dates.

I will have to try this. My eyes are terribly watery when I chop an onion. Oh, the things I learn on here!

My eyes cry with onion too. My kids have giggled when they have walked into the kitchen and saw me with their swim goggles on while chopping large volumes of onion. This week I pulled an @Songbird76 while chopping onion, right to the bone of my left index finger at the joint. My DD like hers was home and well trained in First Aid and seeing far worse at the WaterPark she put me back together again.

Wait, what! Ok, I have some reading to do.

Yep. But nothing is final until the bulldozer comes. Imagination back in 2012 was to be rethemed. CMs were already reassigned immediately following the New Years holiday. The date came and went and the CMs were given orders that their transfers were rescinded. And as we know Figment is still operating. Time will tell. I hope they leave the Tower alone. I will be happily surprised if GMR is not recreated into something else. At least I have a little time to get use to that move.

Hi! and Welcome. Great graduation trip. I took my DD for her college graduation, we had the time of our life. My two kids in their 20's now were also raised Disney like you were. Neither remember their first few trips, my DDs first trip at 2 months old, DS at 14 months and then throughout their childhood/teen years. Congrat's on Boston, what a great University. Boston was on the final 5 of my daughter when choosing and landed at the University of Illinois-Champaign ultimately. Hard choices for many Have fun with gearing up for college. Will you also be residing there?

Hi, this past vacation was the greatest. I had so much fun. I was treated like a Princess the entire time. I don't remember the real early vacations to WDW, but I still count them in the 20 times I have been to the Magical Place. :) Boston University was one of my top choices so I was extremely pleased that it all worked out and it is not too far at all from home, but I still get to live there. I have been interested in Speech and Language Pathology since my Grandpop had a Stroke and it affected his speech.

Alright arm chair travelers, buckle up! Last night, we went to a little outdoor music venue in the North Shore (of Lake Michigan) area of Chicagoland. I haven't been in many years, but the Chicago Symphony Orchestra had "Rhapsody in Blue" and "Selections from West Side Story" on the program. And, my DS and his friend were meeting up with some other friends.

First off, what a bargain! DD was free (kids under 15), DS was free (people with Student ID), and an adult lawn ticket $10. We also paid $10 to park, because we didn't feel like trying to figure out the off site parking, and lugging all of our picnic stuff on and off a bus. So, $30 for 5 people. Less than a movie for beautiful live music. The lawn is where it is at, at Ravinia. Bring in your own picnic. Some people go all out with tables, table cloth, silver candlesticks, china and crystal. Others, just pick up subs, or such. Jersey Mike's did a fine job preparing our sandwiches, plus a lovely sharp cheddar, crackers, and raspberry bellavitano. (Great cheese for the cheese lovers).

DD's friends had come earlier to secure a prime spot under the trees, and picnicing commenced. View attachment 154585

Cookies and chips were also shared. While many enjoy a fine bottle of wine, or a nice beer, DH and I decided it was for the best if we didn't imbibe this evening, as we needed to drive back (and we were hanging out with a bunch of teens.)

The music was wonderful, although I wish they left off "Symphonic Dances". The breeze in the evening air was magnificent. Just a real gem in the area.

I love Ravina. As a youngin I was there all the time. It wasn't such a Haul as it is now. We have always always sat on the lawn.
That entire area is so lovely. One of my nieces was recently married at the Kenilworth Club and the lake is so pretty throughout the NorthShore.

Trying to make the bed when you have a cat presents some additional challenges...

Hahahaha! I completely understand. I have 100# of Happy Pup to contend with. Sometimes he turns it into a game. He'll steal a pillow and bolt or take back the quilt I just pulled up. When he was younger I'd walk into my room and all the pillows would be on the floor and the bed would be unmade-and repeat.

My DD was 3 hours and my DS about the same. So nice you were the Grad Princess this trip.

Great Speech pathologists are difficult to come by, wish you all the sucess in the World, it has to take a great deal of patience. My DD was in Speech Therapy from the age of 3. She was first non verbal then nobody but her brother and Aunt could understand what the heck she was attempting to say. 7 years of it and you'd never know now. I as the Mom can hear the slight slips when she is tired but nobody else would know.

Hope you enjoy your time with us.

Thank You so much. I will be able to pop back home pretty much whenever I want because I live in Massachusetts so that is a good thing. I would have actually commuted, but my scholarship included housing so why not take it and experience the whole college living.

That is fantastic that your DD is doing well now. I love hearing success stories like that. My Grandpop has improved so much since his stroke. I love seeing the benefits of Speech Therapy.

Welcome to the boards!

Sounds like a fun grad trip. When I graduated high school, we went to Disneyland, which was a blast. Disneyland seems to be the "moving on" vacation: we went when I finished middle school, we went for my high school graduation, and now I am graduating college in December and...my friend and I are going to Disneyland. I thought it was not going to happen when I graduate college, but it's happening!

My cat has a similar name to yours: she's Belle. We considered Bella for her, but the extra syllable seemed unnecessary; our cat before that had been Moxie and we always called him Mox.

Have you ever tried Peapod? That reminds me, I should put in an order with them while I am up north, and have them bring groceries the next day.

Oh, ouch! Thank goodness she was able to help you out. Hope it heals quick.
