Yeah, there are so many theories out there, so many meds, what works for one doesn't work for others. It was my own kid that figured out what was making her buckle over after months of tests and meds. It was an acute allergy to Aspartame. I never let my kids have any foods with artificial sweeteners, never thought of the freak'n gum, she finally figured it out on her own. It was never logged in the food diaries. My DH has an allergy to aspartame too along with certain beers. He always orders bottles of beer never tap 'cause they sometimes make errors. Always a risk for both of them too when ordering soda in a restaurant.
Aspartame is awful.

Saturday,we took a ride to Salem, MA. It's about an hour and a half drive from Sagamore Beach. So close to halloween I knew the place would be hopping. And WOW, was it ever! Disney crowds have nothing on Salem. I was bumped, hit, shoved, and I do believe I was inappropriately touched at some point...but it's been a while so not too sure. Anyway, it was great fun! Going to try and go back again this weekend but I want to hit the Witch Museums and tour the cemeteries. After all...it is part of our great nation's history.

I've never been comfortable with this particular sweetener. Too much back and forth on it. My fear is one day is the long term might surface. I remember when Tylenol was like the miracle drug. Decades and decades later there is now some hefty speculation.
I agree with you on that.
There are many products that we still have no idea what can happen on long exposure and buildup.

I've done a lot of research on aspartame and feel that it's safe in small amounts. It's been deemed safe by over 100 countries' regulatory agencies. I figure it's like anything...too much of anything, even a good thing, is bad.

I also can't have sucralose (Splenda) in my drinks, so aspartame is what I can have.

Tylenol is in Excedrin migraine. Excedrin migraine is what works on migraines. I don't have much choice on either front.
seems like you're pretty much tied out of options.

I have come to a conclusion: One of my professors is completely crazy. How he managed to get from talking about IT projects in the workplace to a political rant is beyond me.
Well, I can count you on something about ITS.
most ITs know a lot of how the network moves.
and their constant exposure to secrets, information online..etc.. can make anyone seem like they went CUKO.

Got fingerprinted for the first time ever (now I'm in the system and the government can track me)

I was finger printed when I was 20 for the Securities exchange. Don't know if I am in the system, it was the long before computers. I was called back twice because they didn't like the prints they took, not like I did it. So I went originally, went back for the reprint, never went back the 3rd time. Never heard from them again.

what do you mean "inappropriately touched"?
You mean touched in a way it could be considered "sexual" on purpose?

It would be no surprise if almost every paper record was scanned and digitalized at some point.

Yeah, I am not so sure about that. Every school teacher, bus driver, every brokerage house, bank, park districts, law enforcement, criminals, Disney, you name it, a chunk of the paper boxes filled with these prints were dead. I'm sure they had an intent but my guess is they started at a certain timeline and stopped. My DS has been printed 3 times, for being a school tutor, park district and then Disney, my DD once for school tutor, me once, DH never.

Me too! I actually lost a potential job because the interviewing VP took me to lunch and I asked the waitress if the iced tea was made with sugar or artificial sweetner and she couldn't answer. I found out later he thought I was too so he passed on me. Nope, I just didn't want to be laid up the rest of the afternoon in agony...

Well that is annoying. It doesn't take much to turn some interviewers off and one just never knows what that will be, it doesn't have to be something one says either, it can be clothing, grooming choices, piercing, hair color, finger nails, tattoos, mannerisms, so many quirky things that have nothing to do with what you bring to the table.

Our area has trick or treat from 5-8 on Halloween night. When I was a kid (I lived in a different town), we never had any notice from the town or the schools, for approved "times" to trick or treat. Somehow, the parents just knew that they would tell their kids to be home by 8 p.m. That worked. I don't recall seeing kids outside after that.

Now I understand that certain things have changed, and some areas have stopped trick or treating to protect the kids from a few bad people. Those communities have big, indoor parties instead.

The worst thing I ever recall from years ago (and this is funny), was what one of my brothers did. I was about 9 at the time and had a friend that went out with me to trick or treat. My brother was 11, and he had a crush on my friend. So, like a dork, he thought up a stupid way to get her to notice him. (He was at that adolescent awkward stage . . .) When she came to the door and rang the bell, for me to come out and join her, my brother had a small paper Halloween bag with something inside, and he put it in her Halloween sack. He had a big grin on his face and said, "Happy Halloween" to her. She and I both walked away from the house, and she opened up the little bag--inside, the nitwit had put an empty jar of piccalilli ?!! Oh yah, right--that will get her attention, and bring out passionate emotions??!

Anyway, I brought up this silly story as an example of "the worst thing that happened" years ago, and how trick or treating nowadays has apparently changed for the worse, in some situations. I think I'm glad I'm not a kid now.

I had a rule that any candy collected could not be eaten until I looked at it. Easier said than done when I walked with them when they were smaller. I showed them how to determine safe candy (air in the chocolate packing) so if they opted to ignore my rule they would know what to look for.

When I was small there was the razor blades in apple thing and drug laced candy, most of which was debunked just like the kiddie tattoos that had drugs laced into them. My folks nor I ever let the kids have anything that was homemade or not commercially packaged.

I sorted their candy by what I could identify as commercial wrapping not being compromised. Anything with the tiniest tear tossed. Then I let them pick out what they would not eat and either took it to work or DH took it to work. To pass out candy I only buy stuff that we will eat the left overs. :hungry:

I get a kick out of some real old people who pick out real obscure candy that is a long time favorite of theirs to hand out at Halloween. One 90 year old lady down the road always had polish candy, hard candy with some fruit goo in the center. She paid a mint for the this stuff being an import so the kids would have a special treat. Little did she know the kids were not amused, she never had kids.

I love the Witch Museum in Salem. I remember when I was little I didn't want to leave and my sister cried hysterically and had to be carried out. :joyfull:

Worst. Commute. Home. Ever. So I started out on my normal route home, backroads. A police car passed me with the sirens on, but I thought nothing of it. About 5-10 minutes in, I saw that there was an accident, and the mysterious cop car was there. So I turned around to take the highway home. I figured my 30 minute commute would turn into more like an hour total. After sitting in some traffic, which further delayed me, my car says "Low Tire Pressure". So I then have to get off the highway and pull over to check my tires. Thankfully, the tires just looked low, not like they had a nail or something in them, so I just took backroads the rest of the way home, and sat in more traffic on the way. So my 30 minute commute home turned into a 90 minute commute home.:grumpy:

So my interview today where I got fingerprinted...big campus but the job I was going for was the the middle of town. Why? Wouldn't it make sense to have all departments in one area? I was told my interview was going to be in the HR building so totally didn't expect that.

Anyway. I got lost. Their directions were horrible. And turns out the department was in a strip mall. And because of that, I'm not holding my breath for this job.

Like seriously, your a multi-billion dollar company and you can't add a couple rooms or another floor to an existing building.
