You have a smart phone-you're cool enough just there. My Mom saw in her AARP magazine a recommendation for a Senior Phone. Mind you my Mom with her old phone would call me while she was out and if I needed to return the call she had already shut it off. Drives me nuts. Gotta save that battery ya know.

So she decides she wants a monthly phone called Jigger Bug designed for seniors. Sis and I wanted her to get an iPhone but I wasn't willing to push that with all she was dealing with Dad. The JB makes calls, texts and receives photos and out. It has a real simple contact list and display on outside for who is calling her. Huge buttons and massive display of what you are dialing in a dark font. Flip phone answers call when ringing when you open it. Simple. Outside display says TEXT when someone sends you one or a photo.

On the day my Dad ultimately passed I sent a quick text that said only: We are on the way to Hospital now. She didn't look at it. I was surprised when my Dad passed and we had to hunt her down, at home. Her: I saw it says TEXT but I don't text message indignantly.
Me: But you do read! I picked up phone, opened the flip phone and there is the text message before her eyes with zero effort other than opening the phone. Her firmly: Yeah I'm not going to do that.:banghead:

So Sir, I still put you in the Cool category.
Sympathy like. And I agree. My dad is the same way with the mobile phone. His friends got him an easy one to make sure he had one in case of emergencies....he doesn't turn it on except to call someone else. So no one can get a hold of HIM. Drives me nuts, too. And he can't even work texts or voicemail or anything. If I need to get ahold of him, I have to call around until I find someone who has seen him recently, or is GOING to see him.

Good News!

How is your hip doing lately?
It's not too bad. I still feel it, particularly if I walk a lot, but it's not painful per sé. Just...feels tired I guess? Kind of stiff. But I'm just trying to build up stamina now so that I CAN walk distances. I'm not doing big workouts right now that will overwork it...just concentrating on normal distance walking. Thanks for asking.

That has to be rough being so far away. My Mom is just annoying. She doesn't have to turn the dang thing, battery life has improved dramatically and it has become a habit for all of us to charge the dang thing-not like she is doing much with it to drain the battery

Hahaaa...!
We went to SSL at least three times, along with Wringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus three times, and Barney at least twice...!!! :hilarious:
Great memories, but, oh my, the...

:D ;) :)

Yes we did Ringling Brothers, SSL and Barney too. You know how I feel about that Purple Dinosaur. :cautious: Still-his theme song is etched in my brain, DD loved him, that was her toddler comforter and sheet set on her first bed too. We still called it her Barney Bed. We spent a fortune not only on admission but oh boy the merchandise we bought. But just like Disney in the early years, I'd do it all over again, yes great memories.

someone was very laaazy on the poor guy on the left.

Yep, they all look pretty bad. Few look at the label, you are suppose to work it in.

Daycares and camps have gone to just accepting spray ons if staff is to assist kids as they don't have to touch the kids.

I really have empathy for any kind of staff that has to be so careful when handling children.

Yeah, dad says the same. "Well, I don't want to run the battery down." Well...you certainly won't, but no one can find you either! It doesn't really achieve its purpose if you don't turn it on!! It's not just for you to be able to call, but so people can call YOU and make sure you are still alive!:banghead:

We used to watch Barney when I was volunteering with ESL. It worked pretty well for teaching young children to speak English. I hated the show, but it DID help.

I use spray on, have never looked at the label, but it's kind of logical that it won't help if you don't spread it out so it covers your whole body!
