Yep, the compromises came after Walt came. I'm still glad they kept his thoughts of pretty mansions vs a heap of disrepair look from outside. It is by far my favorite attraction in both DL and MK. On the top of my bucket list is to attend one of the special hard ticket event dinners in the Mansion.

Yes, I believe one of his quotes regarding the exterior of the attraction was something like "We'll take care of the outside and let the ghosts take care of the inside." :)

Never heard of the dinner inside the Mansion before. Where in the attraction do they have it...?

To be fair, it also doesn't die and turn brown when massive amounts of people walk on it. It doesn't create mud to drag around the park and it fits the need for the shows and parades. I don't understand why being "real" is such an issue while we sit and stare at a plastic castle. Personally, I don't remember the hub being more aesthetically pleasing and functional then it is now. Just a difference of opinion, I guess.:)
pretty sure it wont have "massive" amounts of people, since its locked to FP+ on the hours that are important. And hardly any people on the normal hours.

In 40% because he wasn't staying with us so it was friends and family discount. Still the DP food discount and tickets made up for it. But considering the rack rate was 30% off oy. I think we were only paying $25 for DDP with 1 table, 1 QS, snack and refill cup a day. In 2012 I got 60%, still $25 a day for DDP and tickets so the rooms have gone up and the choices are really limited. We couldn't get POR lucky we got FQ. The time before I had to go to Coronado or Caribbean. I really don't care for Caribbean, its set up is just too creepity for me at night. FQ is likely the best when I'm on my own or with my DD. Even the back buses for POR are not in my comfort level late at night. I get off at the lobby and walk the main paths verses through the bushes and cars.

The 2 years we went when I was still a CM (July of '12 and June of '13), we got a 60% resort discount, 50% off the DDP, and my merchandise discounts were 20% and 35%, respectively. Our merch discounts went up to 35% after 3 years of being a CM. :)

Something like that. Today the little angel tried to take my Figment to school for dress like a tourist day. Let's just say my little Figgy is safe and sound at home where he should be:D
Awww, that's adorable!

Anyway, I'm already planning my next trip to WDW in April 2017. My sister's going for a Star Wars convention that I'm not interested in. I also plan on going to Universal, too!

@Cesar R M , after returning from WDW a few days ago, I just wanted to add my thoughts to something you shared (maybe a few months ago) about the resort buses and the ECVs. Having seen it myself, I now understand what you were saying.

I noticed on this trip that some of the resort buses had been reconfigured inside for the ECVs in particular, and wheelchairs. (Although wheelchairs didn't appear to take the same amount of space as the ECVs.)

From what I could see, the ECV will take up the space of 3 regular seats (that fold up out of the way), and then the new retrofit added a metal divider behind it (taking away one seat permanently). Then behind that, are 2 seats that can fold up for perhaps a smaller ECV, or a wheelchair. (So, that's 6 seats right there, if there's 2 ECVs.)

So here's what I couldn't understand about this new system. Now, keep in mind that I ride city buses all the time at home, and we have occasional wheelchairs riders, and far fewer ECV riders. But the difference is that on my city buses, 2-3 seats fold up for a wheelchair/ECV space; however, the person still sits in the wheelchair or ECV for the duration of the ride. (The bus driver merely hooks a restraint on the wheels, so that the wheelchair or ECV doesn't move in transit.)

However, on the Disney buses, the person then sits in a regular seat, while an empty ECV is taking up the space. So essentially, one ECV can take up 3 seats--and the person then sits on a regular seat--thereby, using 4 seats for each ECV rider. When a bus is crowded, losing these extra seats is an issue; and I think a simple solution could be if they just had the people remain seated on their ECV (or wheelchair), thereby freeing up at least a few seats.

I support Disney's efforts to accommodate all guests with any disabilities, but it does seem reasonable if they'd just ask the guests to remain seated in their own ECV during transit. Just wondering what you (or anyone else here) thought about this idea.

Tardy to the party on the ecv topic and since I've been there, done that for two weeks at WDW after breaking my ankle, I learned a lot. Due to safety and insurance reasons a user that can move to a seat will be asked to. I was asked (and told OFTEN) to move to a seat. Only once did I stay on the ecv and it was scary #@$*.

After dining at AK RFC (over an hour after park closing) I was one of six people on the bus back to our resort. Making small talk with the driver while he was securing the ecv, he asked how long it had been since I broke my ankle. I had just got out of the hard cast, into the airboot and at WDW that week. I mentioned it was throbbing. (forgot pain meds in the room  ) He said riders who can't move to a seat are belted in but they really are not restraining and asked if I felt like I needed to stay on the ecv. BOY HOWDY they were not holding much! No wonder they want people off them!

I figured I'd try not knowing any better. Every left hand turn I had a death grip on the window ledge because you leaned to the right and felt like you were going to fall out of the seat. And having a three wheel scooter they can tilt some. The belts don't lock like a cars either, they give A LOT. I can also see the insurance point too because if there's an accident or fire you'll need to rely on someone else to undo the belt latch. After feeling like I was going to end up on the floor I swore to never stay in it again. I also made it a point to never use a bus during busy times and at park closing we'd grab a snack and wait until there was virtually no line.

Hello, humans!. When we got back to the room last night, it was a shower and then bed. We took off early this morning, and just came back for a break! Hubby has only taken a couple pictures today and they have not been downloaded. We went to the Magic Kingdom and went from ride to ride non stop. It was super busy today. Probably few pictures tomorrow. The first free day we will take pictures. Magic Kingdom was super clean, no trash cans overflowing, we saw people sweeping up popcorn and things. The women's bathrooms, were more of the same, but just a little better.
Still too many strollers and ecv's. I got hit by a guy with a stroller so hard he almost knocked me to the ground. He was going around near the tunnel. Hubby caught me, and all is well. He gave me a dirty look. The rest of the family apologized for him as they were behind and saw what he did. His teenage son, touched me on the shoulder and asked if I was okay. I said yes, all is good. Then he went up to his dad and took the stroller away from him. I get the feeling that poor family has seen a lot of his aggression. I really felt sorry for the family. The father, no so much!;) We had a great day so far! We are taking the boat from Saratoga, to Disney Springs, and eat at the Earl of Sandwich. I see I'm going to have a lot of ketchup to do when I get back. Thanks to all for the well wishes.

good to hear you';re having a good time. I still have no idea why people love to use the scooters or strollers as weapons to make others move away.
