I think the latest I've ever seen it open was 9pm - so we'd have to wait till like the last 30 mins to ride Everest at night.

That's what I'm most looking forward to...that ride at night is incredible!
After all the years of going to Disney, I've never been able to see AK at night. I'm very excited to see it in 6 days. We plan to eat at Rainforest, (kids like it), and spending the evening there.

Would anyone be interested in a post a pic Fridays. You don't have to show your face or family. Just a fun picture or amazing picture for Friday's. I have some pictures from different vacations, or area's I've lived at. I don't have too many, we lost everything in the flood in Kansas City. But, we have one box, of pictures from the past. We salvaged them during the flood. I would love to see what everyone finds special or exciting or what ever, love those food photo's. Could be a fun way to share something from each of us. If this is a bad idea, PM me. Just a thought.
Sure...keeping up with the 80's theme:
This would be my 8th grade year in the fall...I'm the one in the middle.

3 shows a night and only 5000 people per show, you'll need fp or dining package
Help!! How can I book a dining package? I can't find any for the Jungle book show OR ROL, though I found an article that says Tusker House will offer a dining package, and one that said Tiffins will have one. We already have a reservation for Tusker House, but it's not for the dining package, so I'd like to change it if I can, but I can't find anywhere that mentions the dining package. How does one do this??

The danger is when no one puts the opposing view out there. Many of the people that are convinced that WDW (for example) is not as good as it once was are leaning on their memories of when they went during their childhood. The memories of kids contain a lot of things, but, one of the weakest is the reality. Even as an adult, on my first visit, I was overwhelmed by the shear volume of visual stimuli that was placed in front of me. However, I do remember many things that I'm sure a first time, young, person would not have noticed. My first visit MK was just a little over 10 years old and EPCOT was 4 months old. There were many flaws in both of them, but, other then crowd control at EPCOT nothing was really distracting. Today, I walk up Main Street USA and see 40+ year old buildings that are cleaner, brighter and more colorful then they were in '83. There are flowers everywhere, detailed and wonderful to look at that didn't exist back then. Since it was my first visit I would have had no way of knowing if an AA wasn't working or if it were meant to be stagnant. It didn't matter, the place was great anyway, and still is... but it is different. Many of the attractions that I found so totally amazing back then, like 20K, are now gone, but, even though it took them forever to replace it, what is there now is good as well. It isn't automatically bad (or kiddie in Fantasyland of all places), it is prettier, better themed and more interesting with, whether they admit it or not, more things to do. 20K was the one and only ride that took forever to get on. The ride itself was very well themed, but, the wait was in the hot sun for what seemed like hours at a time. Other then the semi-themed partial cover over the queue, it was like standing in a field watching grass grow.

It is just frustrating to me how distorted so many of those other observations are. I've used this example before... if you, as an adult, go back to the house you grew up in, aren't you amazed at how small it is now. It didn't shrink it's just that the childhood observation is much bigger then the actuality.
Oh, I remember 20k. I actually hated that attraction...the only thing I remember is just what you said....standing in line for what seemed like HOURS. I don't really remember any of the actual ride. My mom had really wanted to go on it...I think that was the trip when I was about 9. Back then, our favorite was Epcot...we loved EVERYTHING about Epcot...Imagination was one of our favorites and we went over and over and over....we knew the song by heart by the end of the day. And world of motion was another one...we loved the guy blowing on his foot and the motorcycle cop hidden behind the billboard. It's sad that those things have changed or aren't there anymore, but there are other new things that are awesome. I can't wait for Turtle Talk with Crush!! We did it last time, but the kids didn't really speak much English back then. They understood most of it, but didn't speak it themselves. Now that they do, I hope they will get to participate more. And I'm nervous but excited about Soarin'. The kids were too small last time and I'm afraid of heights....but I'm so doing it this time. So much to look forward to, even with all the things that have changed.
