It's great she could go back to work. I don't think either of my grandfathers retired from their last jobs until either was 85. Kept them young and out of my respective grandmothers hairs. that also help keep them alive much longer
My dad worked until he was nearly 80. He had a really physical job and I kept telling him he should find something a bit less strenuous on his knees if he wanted to continue working. In the end, the company decided for him...he couldn't keep up with the physical demands and others were complaining that they were having to do his work because he didn't get it done, so they asked him to retire. Soooo sad, really, because that job really kept him going and it gave me peace of mind to know that someone would notice if he didn't come in one day and they'd check on him. But he really did need to stop what he was doing.

Its not just kids, I've seen so many adults going to the bathroom and never washing their hands.. awful!! x_X

*edit*
funfact, the restrooms in disneyworld were the worse.. nearly 60% of the people I've seen going out of the bathrooms, never washed their hands.
Thats awfully worse than anywhere I have been (alaska, canada, Mexico, continental US)
I saw that too, and the women's restrooms, can be really filthy. I keep thinking do people really live like this at home?

I don't want to be a debbie downer at all but my day and part of yesterday was a huge downer to say the least. There is a controversy in our area about a sexual assualt (and I have/had respect for the assailant and respect for the victims as I had them in class) and then today I found out a former student of mine died tragically in a car crash this morning. Since I have these kids for three years, I get to know them quite well... :(
Anyway, my day did brighten when I came on here and read some of the Chit-chat. So thank you all for being a bright spot to me today! :)
My sympathy.

Nah, not much. Very disappointing winter so far . . .

Oh, I was thinking about your online dating fun, and I hope you eventually find someone wonderful.

For some reason, I also thought about some old advice that my grandmother used to tell me and my sister. Even if you know the gentleman ahead of time (in other words, not a blind date, although this advice applies to all), always bring enough money for a cab to get home, in case you need to distance yourself from a date that didn't turn out exactly the way you wanted. What she really was saying to us was to always be cautious, and if something doesn't quite feel right about the direction the date is going, then at least you have an opportunity (with your cab money) to not accept a ride home with him.
Your Grandmother, gave very wise advice.

I understand what you mean by getting to know them so well after three years. Actually, many of the kids in my room for lunch, I have known since Kindergarten. It always breaks my heart a little when something bad happens to one of them. But it also makes me happy when they go out of their way to say hello when we run into each other at a game, or just about town. Happy to be a bright spot for you!
