@figmentfan423 I saw Alaska is having a snow deficit this year. How about we send them ours for the rest of the winter. ;)
YES!!!!!!!!!!! With the wacky weather warm then cold, then war, then very cold. I've lucked out a bit in the snow department this year. So between that and shipping quite a bit to @MinnieM123 I only have a couple of inches on my lawn but they can have it:D

I was at Target today and in the Easter section. A clump of Pillsbury boxed cakes, mostly confetti style. Had a gluten free edition.
All the normal versions of confetti were $1.25 and Gluten Free was $3.34. What is up with that?
It's mostly a supply and demand type of thing. I'm lucky I bake, because most of the commercial gf products are full of empty carbs (tapioca starch, potato starch, corn starch and way too much sugar) I use brown rice flour , millet flour, garbanzo bean flour and such much healthier and cheaper.:)

I actually wonder, Can she even sing at the levels of Julie Andrews?
I remember reading that only Adele, Lady Gaga and Maria Carey can acceptably sing to the levels of her during Andrew's peak.
Would be nice to see Kara Tointon considered for this role. She was very impressive in the UK late last year when they had a Live Sound of Music.

Good morning all! The sun is out, and though it is windy, the temps feel like April. supposed to hit close to 60 today! Unfortunately, the ants are loving it, too. I woke up to them in my kitchen and dining room. Anyone have a tried and true way to get rid of them? I can't really put traps around, because my little furry doggy friend may try to eat them. Thanks!

I read ahead of your posts for a while here this morning, and others have posted some very creative solutions to the ant issue. Amazing what you learn here on the forums.

A few years ago, we had ants in the summer and tried the usual sprays, etc. (traps only in closed cabinets because we have a dog). Finally, I called the landlord and he brought in an exterminator who put some sort of ant food/traps (not sure what it was), but placed all of them outside of the house in the ground. Within a week, there were no more ants. Just thought I'd pass this along, that the exterminator told us that they come in from the outside, and that's where you have to target them.

Best of luck to you, and I hope you can get rid of those pesky critters.

She does look cute. And yes I am getting a kick out of consumerism of boots and coats for Pups. I'm in the camp that God gave them all they needed to survive with what He gave them. But she is adorable nonetheless. :D

I also enjoyed @ajrwdwgirl 's photos of the pup. Years ago, I never understood the bootie and jacket thing for dogs--they had fur and I thought that was enough. However, came to learn in later years that in the more extreme cold, vets actually recommend for most dogs (not necessarily huskies, mals, or samoyeds that thrive in the cold), to have a sweater/jacket when outside.

As for booties, those can really help keep their paws protected if they walk anywhere that salt has been put down (roads, etc.). They can also stop their paws from freezing in icy, snowy conditions. Take for example, the Can Am Crown International Dog Sled Race (it's up here in the Northeast--border of Maine and Canada). We've seen it a few times over the years, and I copied a photo (not mine--coped from their web site) from the 2014 race. The musher has put booties on all his dogs. Depending upon the temperature in any given year, you'll see many of the dogs wearing those. And the Can Am is serious business for the U.S. and Canadian entrants, as it is (one of) the 250-mile races that qualifies the winner for a possible entry into the Iditarod. Not sure how the scoring goes, but it is a qualifier. Winner of the Can Am gets $29,000.

As I read your post, I was reminded that the Iditarod is coming up soon. When I taught social studies we did a unit on the Iditarod. The kids really liked following the race and they read a book by Gary Paulson about his experience in the race. I still like following the race. I can't imagine putting all those boots on the sled dogs, I can barely get them on my dog! :) And she always manages to kick one off as we walk too!

This is from the Woodfield Mall area in Illinois:

The Schaumburg Village Board on Tuesday approved an ordinance that prohibits local hotels and motels from renting to anyone under 21 and that holds responsible any adults who rent the rooms if police find underage drinking going on there.
-*-*-*
Florida State Statutes do not set a specific age but allows for Hotels to set their own minimum age policies which ranges from 18-25 in Florida. During Spring Break some hotels state in their policy that the minimum age is increased from 21 to 25 to avoid Spring Break college students due to underaged drinking on premises.
Fine. Then don't charge the adult fee for those under 21 choosing to stay with their parents.

Am I the only one excited about the new SW show and fireworks at DHS? It takes just a smidge of the sting out of the other cuts. Still doesn't make up for the loss of SWW and the closing of the Writer's Shop!

it's nice but yawn. It would be great if there was more rides in the park. If you get to the park at 9 and spend an average hour for each ride plus 30 minutes for lunch, you get out at 3:30.

I agree they need a few more rides, that's why we're going to hop there and do a couple of afternoons and evenings. Besides ST a couple of dozen times a trip is fun:D

Do you see 3D in Star Tours because I don't? I never see the 3D. As much as I love Star Wars, I think Disney needs a Marvel Land. It baffles me that they don't have one. I thought they could use their own characters Universal wasn't using?
