I was cleaning up DD's room while she's staying with my in-laws and I found an old book that I used to LOVE when I was a kid. It was a Hallmark book...A fun-filled trip to Walt Disneyworld. I didn't know I still had it, but I was so happy to find it.

I don't think the schools have ever closed here...but back home, they built in days that the kids would have vacation unless they needed to make up a snow day. So like...in April, they would have "spring break", which was only a 4 day weekend, but if they had closed school in February for a day or two, they would have to go to school instead of having spring break. And if they had snow days to make up AFTER the spring break, then they have to make them up at the end of the year, so school would get out later.

I like our Districts way better. Messing with Spring Break would only mess up family vacations here. Many people have to tell their employers way in advance when they are taking time off work. So many parents bolt for vacation on the last day of school too. Makes planning difficult to not know when the last possible day of the school year is too.

We make the call at our March School Board meeting when the last day of school will officially be over the tentative later date. Gives residents plenty of time to arrange for day care if the kids get out early or to book trips. On the rare occasions that we have emergency day(s) to make up by state requirements after the March decision we send only the professional staff as an inservice day.

I believe you are correct in both scenarios. For decades I've watched writers pick up on a major issue that is just on the radar and later becomes major news. In reverse I believe the crazies of the world get some ideas from both fictional tv and the news that they wouldn't likely have the wherewithal to mastermind on their own. Sometimes I'm not a fan of the freedom of info laws though 99% of the time I support it. At times I believe there is info out there I really don't have a need to know of. Every once in a while there are things I don't need to know and the crazies don't need to know.

speaking of birthdays.. this month is the busiest one for my family.. we have nearly 30 birthdays lined up.

Hello everyone, just to let you know I'm still alive, barely. So much for the flu vaccine. I can barely sit up, and I have to , to breath, my cough has kept me up since I came home. My asthma attacks are back in full swing. Hubby is now coming down with this. I'm pretty sure it came from the airplane. I was sitting in the aisle, and a guy went by and sneezed all over my face. The timing is right for getting this. No more isle seats for me or hubby. He kept well longer than me, but unfortunately he got what I have. I hope to share the fun we had in Disney. Aside note, everyone on the plane flight back was coughing and sneezing. Most looked sick, like me. This is going to spread quickly, as it already has. From my opinion. I hope you all stay well. I will be back when I can. I want you all to know , I still had a wonderful trip, and we had the most fun ever. I love a mostly no planned trip. More chicken broth and sierra mist for me tonight. I know I will beat this thing, I'm a very strong and stubborn person when it comes to germs. I'll be da**ed if this will get me. Hubby, needs a lot of pixie dust, he doesn't have as strong of lineage as I do. I love you all, and very much miss being on here. Oh, my how do I ketchup?

Ha! That may be true! I'm not a huge drinker. If I have 5 drinks in a year, it's a lot. But the Orbiting Oreos is a MUST for me. And I wouldn't mind the chocolate margarita I think it is? I don't drink wine or beer at all though...I'm strictly a wine cooler or cocktail girl...I only like the sweet stuff.

In the past year I've had maybe 5 glasses of wine in total. I do enjoy a nightcap or glass of wine with dinner on vacation.

I had a fun morning! NOT!!!!!!!!!!!! Had to take a friend to child support office as her Mr Donkey stopped paying again! I'm sorry but if you make them pay for them. BTW he makes serious bank and his order is for less than he spends most night just going out. Not like he doesn't have the money. He does it for spite.

Yep, still $1.38 just down the road here, too.
Can't even remember the last time it was this low.
The lowest I'm seein' in the state is in northwest Houston at $1.14 a gallon.
