I can sleep on just about any bed if I am tired enough though I might be sore in the morning. The pillow thing though is another story. I need a mushie pillow. When we would stay onsight at my DD University at the Union hotel they had these big, fat, firm pillows. I could not fall asleep with my head on an angle like that. When we had to stay at the Union I bought a $5 pillow from Walmart, flat and soft and left it behind when we checked out. Problem solved. Who has the bestest pillows is The Hampton Inns. My DD and I in Mattoon IL in the middle of corn stayed there one night as we were touring colleges. Result reasonable hotel and $200 in purchasing pillows for both her and I for 4. Best things ever.
I bought a soft travel pillow, at Walmart, I don't think they sell them any more. I wish they would bring those back. I can't use those big hard pillows either!

Oh my, yes. Many, many times over the years.
The main reasons I've never seriously pursued it are cost and time involved.
Plus, I have a heart condition called supraventricular tachycardia. In an instant, and out of nowhere, my heart rate can jump to well above 200 bpm. I've been in the ER twice when it was at 215 bpm and 230 bpm.
Had the first episode in my early 30's. I had no clue what the heck was going on. In the ER, they had to administer through IV an antiarrythmic called adenosine to knock my heart rate back down. Craziest darn feeling...it basically flatlines you for a few seconds so that the heart can then resume a normal rhythm.
They told me it would get worse over time and that I would eventually need heart ablation surgery to correct it.
After that, I started carrying around a prescription med called verapamil to take in case of an event. It has kept me from ER visits a few times.
Crazy thing is, despite what the docs said, the frequency of these events has actually substantially lessened over time. The last time I had an event (knock on wood - my head ;)) was about 8 years ago. And, although I've never lost consciousness during an event, the lightheadedness and a straining feeling on the body is quite unnerving.
Anyway, if I ever see myself getting close to having the money or time to go for a pilots license, the first thing I'll do is research the heart condition thing.
I still have dreams about flying all the time.
It would be about the coolest thing in the world if I could someday get a pilots license...! :)

ETA: thrill rides and such have all been doc approved. Apparently, that stuff has no bearing on the condition...! :)
I'm sorry that your heart condition kept you from your life dreams. I'm glad that you have such a nice family around you.:joyfull:

I got detentions for leaving school early my jr and sr years. Our high school was built in the late 1920s and the windows on the main floor were low to the ground. I had gym (which I hated) last so my friend and I would climb out the locker room window and walk home.
Our high school had an inside pool. So had to take swimming every year. I hated going from gym class with wet hair the rest of the day. I would have loved to have a window to crawl out of.;)

My X-wife had that. I can't tell you how many times we ended up in the ER. Many of them in Kissimmee! They finally discovered an additional nodule on her heart that was occasionally sending electrical signals for the heart to beat causing it to mesh with the legitimate nodules and thus elevating her heart rate. Her last episode involved her passing out at work.

She had surgery which involved running something into her artery cutting the nodule off her heart. It required no hospital time so we went in in the morning and left before lunch. She never had the problem again after that.
Wow, that's what I call modern medicine, I would have thought she would have to stay in a hospital for at least a week.

So I have had quite a day of some ups and downs...and I have to share because I'm still a little freaked out about the downs. So sorry if it is a little long. The day started with a phone call from school we had a two hour delay because of icy roads. This was a good thing for me, it meant getting a little extra sleep and getting some stuff done around the house. As I live only 2 blocks from the school I teach at I didn't have to worry about icy roads.

Once I get to school the kids are all crazy because it is Friday and we had the 2 hour delay. I was a little late getting into my classroom to start as I was chatting with our librarian in the hallway and I noticed our principal with one of our students at the students locker which was right across from the doorway of my classroom. I thought it was strange if this student was already in trouble as it was at the start of the day. About 45 minutes later in between the next two classes another teacher told me she saw that student being taken out of school with the police. Anyway, soon after that we found out that the student had brought a loaded gun to school. And turns out it wasn't the first time, he showed the gun to his friends and his friends did the right thing and told our principal. It is just really scary to think that a middle schooler would bring a gun to school and it was loaded (and cocked). If you don't remember I teach in a very rural district and we all have the feeling that something like a shooting would never happen here. Luckily the student didn't use the gun and it didn't go off accidentally. But it is still sickening to think of what could have happened. Hopefully that is the only brush I or anyone I know have with that situation.

So when I came home from school we booked our summer Disney trip, as I needed some joy and magic to hold on to today. :(
Sorry about the incident. I've told this story before, but a kid brought a loaded gun into my DD first grade class. He meant no harm, but wanted to show it to his friends.:jawdrop: ( I wasn't sure if you were on Magic at the time.)

Yikes I'm glad nothing happened! But I guess none of us can think anymore that it can't happen where we are unfortunately. Very sad indeed. That's why I think a lot of us love Disney so much because it allows us to forget about a lot of the terrible stuff in the world. At least for me it does.
I feel the same way. No news on the in room TV. And it becomes a whole new world to me. Wish I could afford to stay in the "bubble".

Couldn't you stuff it in your shirt or under your jacket and just pretend that you are 1) Pregnant or 2) overdid Christmas dinner just a little.
Well, considering the trip isn't until July, I doubt they'd believe it was Christmas dinner. ;) As for pregnant, I'm pretty sure if I were THAT pregnant looking, they'd want a doctor's release that I was ok to fly. But it's ok...I can always buy a pillow cheap at Walmart. I just can't stand really solid pillows. I need something a bit mushy.

We still have a drive-in about five miles from me. $12 per carload and that's for TWO feature films, the same movies in theaters. Sometimes we load into my sister's van and when we basically are paying $2 a person. We pack a cooler and some camp chairs so when the kids fall asleep during the second movie we sit outside.
How nice. I would love to do that one more time.
