I sure hope they are good! :) We have a Beatles Tribute band up here that is very good. The last I heard Love was the only original member in the current tour.

I Love The Beach Boys. My very first concert as a youngin was a double header concert in Chicago; The Chicago-Beach Boy Concert. It was beyond Awesome. Had to sneak out of the house 'cause I was not allowed into Chicago nor allowed to stay out that late ever especially as a very young teenager. My Sis was able to close some doors to make my Dad believe I came home and was in my bed. :devilish:

Have fun and enjoy. :inlove:

When myself and my 3 siblings were young (I'm the oldest), my folks would speak Czech around us all the time when they didn't want us to know what they were talking about.
As the years passed they sort of lost the language. About 15 years ago, they found out we have relatives in Prague/Praha, Czech Republic.
They planned a trip about a year out, and really started studying the language again. During the first visit, the relatives were extremely impressed. Mom and pop have back twice since.
I really need to take the time to learn the language more fluently. :)
Like Spanish, I only know a little.
I actually probably know more Spanish...
My kids do well with English. They are definitely more proficient in Dutch, but they speak English well. And their accents are adorable.

It is nasty here. It is now above freezing so by your reports the salt must be working. 2.5 hours to clear a driveway. Granted it is 150 feet but still it is crazy waterlogged snow filled with ice pellets.
A friend of mine in Illinois posted on FB that it was insane trying to shovel because it was basically ice and really heavy. Be careful and don't hurt yourself!!

Good morning it seems we got a bit of ice last night so I'm going nowhere today. My dh can take today off so I'm not even going to try and get him moving until at least 8. He said if the roads improve he'll try and go in a bit late. I just looked outside the carp is still coming down and it's 28 degrees and the wind is howling. I was planning on getting some things done but with all the men home I don't think so:cautious:
Sympathy like. Hard to get things done when people are home. Though, my kids were at Oma and Opa's for a few days and I worked yesterday and DH is off this week. He got a bee in his bonnet and decided DS needs a big boy room, which in his mind involved moving the furniture around. DS's room is SMALL and there's not much you could do except move everything to the opposite wall it was on. So the bed was on one side, dresser and book case on the other. It is now reversed. DH picks me up from work and I asked him what he did all day with the house to himself, he says he started cleaning DS's room up because he wants to rearrange it. I ask him if there's even another way it will all FIT. He says yes, if we switch everything to the opposite side from now. And I ask him if there is any particular reason he wants to do this. He says yes, DS deserves a big boy room. And I said "And putting the bed against the other wall is going to make it a big boy room?" He says yes, if we get some posters for the wall. I assume this is man logic? So we spent the day taking everything out of the book case, and dresser, wiping everything down, taking apart the bed and putting the back on the other side. (It's kind of like a day bed...it has a head board, foot board, and back board, but the room is too narrow to just turn it around...we tried, and the bed is too wide to get it out the door and around the wall. So we had to take it apart and put it back together the other way). Then DH goes and picks the kids up and he gets his camera ready and tells DS to go put something in his room. DS walks to his room and turns around and asks "Where IS my room?" DH asks " Where's your room?" and he says "Here...but this doesn't LOOK like my room." He was so confused it was adorable. But he loves it and is super happy, so it was worth the effort.

Can you get unflavored gelatin and make your own flavors?
If they had flavoring, maybe. But they don't have like...food coloring, or fruit extracts here. They have lemon, rum, almond and vanilla flavorings and that's it. I tried to get orange extract...doesn't exist here. But it's ok. I have friends who send me Jello packets if I ask. It's really light so it doesn't cost much to send. And then when I'm in the states I stock up on it....and gravy mix. And twizzlers. I MISS twizzlers.

Sympathy like. That was beyond bad! I know you can't get here by driving so again sympathies.
Yes, that was a very bad ending to our trip. Compounded by the fact that we were staying with my friend in Kissimmee and as we were packing up the car to go to the airport, DH left the door of the house open and my friend's beloved pet duck flew away...this was her BABY. She had had several miscarriages and just could not have kids of her own and her husband refused to adopt, so she got ducks and rabbits instead. This duck lived in the house and wore diapers. It was, for all intents and purposes, her child. So we didn't even get to say goodbye to her because she had to go out looking for Yerps. And Yerps flew into the swamp, so she was in alligator infested waters rescuing her duck because of us, instead of saying goodbye. I thought she'd never talk to me again after that. So we left on a very bad note, and then had the trip from purgatory home, which rather seemed like karma. I was miserable the whole way home. But the good news was that my friend got the duck back.

Coming back from Orlando, United left all of our luggage, on the cart . We got to Denver, no one's luggage came out. Some people drove from Wyoming, at least 3 hours, and United wanted them to drive back and pick up the luggage when it got to Denver. People were really angry, and I don't blame them. We had bought lost luggage insurance, so they had to deliver ours, at 3 A.M.
Yeah, that's the thing...Wyoming doesn't have an airport. Well, it has a bunch of the tiny little municipal ones, but that tacks an extra $200-300 onto each flight. It's way cheaper to drive to Denver and fly. If you live in the Western part of Wyoming, you drive to Salt Lake City, Utah in the South, or Idaho in the north. If you live in the East, you drive to Denver...where I come from, that's a 5-6 hour drive. They lose your luggage, and then want you to make a 6 hour drive back to pick it up, and then ANOTHER 6 hour drive back home. It's insane!! And we don't have a choice because Wyoming doesn't have an international airport at all. We HAVE to fly to Denver and then drive up to Wyoming.

Everyone has been talking about air ports. I saw on the news this morning, that the wait in security went from 30minutes to over 3 hours. The lines looked horribly long. So what does TSA do, cut the lines from 3 to 1. That was causing a lot of angry people waiting to go through the security checkpoint. Denver International was clearly blaming TSA for the messed up lines, as they were responsible for staffing.
Oh yuck! Were there maybe a bunch of TSA agents that couldn't get there because of weather, so they were understaffed? Last time we flew in, they didn't have enough customs lines open, so it was taking FOREVER to get through. We were in line for an hour and a half before they opened some more lines...and then instead of getting the people from the front of the line through, they took the BACK half of the line, just behind us, and let them start the new lines. So all the people BEHIND us got to go ahead while we waited another hour in line. I was so angry.

solution.. buy prepaid debit cards, use 1 per day.. force him to leave the others at the hotel so he doesnt overspend.
It's more the price of tickets and resort that my brother-in-law is worried about. He says for less than the price of 3 days in a resort and tickets, they could go on a cruise for a week. He'd rather have the week long cruise than 3 days of Disney. And on the cruise, everything is paid for....there's not really a way for my brother to overspend as much.

Thanks. It was done as best as could be, not how it is done with regular snow. I can't get the massive garbage and recycle bins back where they belong, the iced snow slush fanned out an evergreen and it won't go back to normal until it melt which likely will be more than a week or so. But fortunately the snowblower did throw it, I was surprised. It was only about 4 inches but normally the snowblower clogs with anything that wet. The driveway, front porch, back porch and patio clear so Walt can get out without going splat. Done now. :arghh:

You're such a rebel!! I hope you returned the favor for your sister sometime!

Oh she was the rebel. I actually had her come to live with me while she was in law school 'cause she ticked our folks off (though I did agree with Sis, but there house, their rule thing.)

Been covering her tushie started when she was in 8th grade when she got tossed out of school on the last day for participating in a pre-planned shaving cream event. I picked her up on bike and brought her home. In high school my Mom almost sent her to boarding school. No real trouble, just silly stupid things. Me I was the good girl. :angelic: (I'm borrowing @MR FERRET halo)

We kinda did that in our heads for the first 15 years we took 2 week vacations. I took x amount in cash and took x amount in traveler checks.
Divided by 14-16 days we knew give or take what we'd spend. Some days less, some days more but there was a budget. Had a credit card in case of an emergency but credit wasn't factored in and our trips air, hotel, tickets were paid in full when we booked with the travel agent.

But I get what @Songbird76 is saying. Disney is over the top expensive and if they are digging themselves out of hole this probably isn't the year to drop that amount on a major vacation. As though who know me Ive said before family vacations came to a complete screeching halt when I had 2 kids in college. I managed some 5 day trips with my DS CM discounts over those years but if it wasn't for the drastic discounts back then it wouldn't have happened. Priorities. I use to hate when it was time for a new car cause that always delayed the next trip but you do whatcha gotta do.
