My husband and I always speak English together, and I mostly speak English with the kids, so when we go into a store, the cashiers always hear us speaking English and some of them aren't proficient in English so they kind of panic at the thought of having to speak English to us...and then we switch to Dutch and you can just see the confusion and then RELIEF wash over their faces. It's amusing.
I have no skill for speaking two languages. I took French for four years, and can only say Merci !

My DD and I tend to get out of the way of twits trying to squish us. We are both small and we always get clobbered. I had one woman push through a clump of people at a craft fair and I had just opened a soda which went up in the air and onto the floor. No sorry, excuse me, let me help you clean that up. She did look back and I wished her a Merry Christmas.
I'm small too, and I get run over at the airport and Disney, every trip. I've had so many shoulder injuries at Disney , from people slamming me I can't count. Why do people ignore small people? Do we not count? Or is it the age. Forge ahead, the heck with the rest of the world. I can't believe this only happens to me.....

Insurance in Mexico is worse than in the USA, they pretty much give you the finger on most of the stuff.
my loss is still considered "preexisting condition". since I have been deaf since I was 10 years old.
so yeah, no insurance help on my implant and other stuff.. all needs to be from and by my pocket.
I swear with the money that I and my father spent on my deafness stuff..I would have bought 3 luxury houses and a few cars.
So sorry.

Still very much catching up to do. Don't know if being sick is helping or hindering. I have more down time, but I'm needing it to sleep. On the upside, I got all my Christmas presents wrapped today while the kids were at Oma and Opa's and daddy was watching the new Star Wars at the brand new Imax theater.
I've switched to paracetamol now as ibuprofen wasn't helping my headache or bringing my fever down, and it seems to be working on both, but the ibuprofen works better for the overall achy-ness, but I can deal with that better than the loopiness and headache, so I'll stick to paracetamol. Hubby tells me I'm absolutely not going to work tomorrow.

I hope you feel better soon. I was really sick with cold symptoms yesterday, it was horrible.

Not just you or small people. I'm 5'7" and get run into as well. But I'm also a defensive walker so I'm constantly on the lookout for rude people, and thus rarely surprised by them.

I almost never have a Christmas tree. I always go to their homes and since my apartment is small, there isn't a lot of room to entertain, especially with small ones and early teens there is no real need to put one up. Besides, I hate Christmas or, at least, the Christmas season. It seems to bring out the worst in everyone. My dislike started years ago when I had jobs in businesses that were "against the wall" busy during that season. Long hours, little rest, dealing with grumpy people, etc.

Now I enjoy immensely my time with my family on Christmas itself, but, the rest of the time I get nothing from it and pretty much cannot wait until it's over. As a religious holiday, it's fine. As a commercial one, it sucks big time. OK, that's my true confession for the year. Hopefully, it didn't offend anyone as it is my personal feel based on my experiences. I am glad for people that get a lot out of the season, just not me.
That's what I like about our little group, we can agree to disagree.

It's probably a sickness but I find it amusing how stressed people get at this time of year for no good reason. We willingly went to the mall yesterday to let the kids use the gift cards they got for Christmas. It was pretty civilized but people were impatient, pushing by people. I just kept humming Christmas carols every time someone bumped into me.
I stopped in the mall yesterday to get threaded and it was so nice. No pushing or shoving, Christmas music playing and happy people. I got there as it was opening just after the sun came up. I got all my errands done before noon yesterday, by the time I was leaving the area the roads were a mess. :cautious:Some of the worst I've ever seen. On the way home I could tell it was backed up for MILES. Glad I was going in the oposite direction:D

Really? Do you at least no White Christmas and Annie Get Your Gun? Hugely popular musicals and movies. Berlin was one of the founding fathers of Broadway. He wrote much of the popular music of his time too, recorded by people like Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streissand, Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, etc. Do you know "God Bless America"? He wrote that too. He was an amazing cat.
no, I do not know "god bless america" because I'm not american lol.
I know of Barbra Streisant, but I'm way beyond the ages of Sinatra, Crosby..etc..

Also, no idea about "annie get your gun".
