Do I really have to go to work today?. In other news, Viola Davis won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama....Yeah Little Rhody.

@MinnieM123. My brother is doing a presentation on Rocky Point and it got me thinking if you or anybody you know went to the park. Apparently the park was a big hit. It opened in 1840s and closed in the early 1990s. Don't ask me, even if I went...I don't remember it.

Unfortunately, I never went to Rocky Point. Been to other older parks such as Paragon Park and Whalom Park, but nothing south of MA.

Well, the woman, on their wedding day, the morning of their wedding, would shave their heads, and then during the wedding, they would dress up as men. Historians think it was to curb homosexual tendencies in men. I also read a bit about, ahem, consecrating the marriage. That I will not share. Something about it appeared on my Facebook news feed, and rather than letting it go, I decided to figure out if it was true or not. When I was done, I was a bit like,
th

The one thing I learned that left me less disturbed, more intrigued, was that the men were usually soldiers and they were required to live in barracks until age 30, so men who were under 30 and married either would sneak out to see their wives or they might not see them for years and years.
Thank you for sharing the information. Funny, how different cultures evolve.

OK, picking up where I left off yesterday...

After Pat O'Brien's, we headed to Acme Oyster House for lunch...

While we were outside waiting for a table, some guys from Ottawa, Canada that had a table up front, came outside for a smoke. We all struck up a conversation. Cool dudes. At one point they started singing. When we were called for our table, we said our goodbyes and told each other to enjoy the rest of our trips.
At one point DWifey went to talk to the manager about the staff possibly singing Happy Birthday to youngest DD. He said they don't do that when they're that busy, because they can't spare the staff, but, he thought he knew some guys that would.
So, guess who ended up at our table singing Happy Biirthday to youngest DD...?

Yep, the guys from Ottawa...!!! :joyfull:

DD was also given a complimentary b-day oyster shot by the other party at our long table. DD does NOT do oysters. I wish I had thought to take a pic or video of her tryin' to politely choke that thing down...it was pretty hilarious...! :hilarious:

Everyone else had Po Boys (chicken, turkey, shrimp, and crawfish), and I had half a dozen charbroiled oysters, and half a dozen raw oysters.
Again, all awesome...! :hungry:

My oysters...

When you say beginning....do you mean from the 60s? If so, I can not watch those episodes. I laugh at them and it's like what the hell am I watching. Doctor Who is a series before its time.
Yep, all the way back to William Hartnell, although there are a lot of missing episodes from his tenure and the second Doctor Patrick Troughton. I know what you mean; some of them are pretty funny - really crude by today's standards, but I still get a kick out of them.

Since schools are mostly computerized I thought this was interesting. I really think schools should keep doing handwriting. Granted my handwriting is no better but I have an excuse (my writing hand is my surgery hand is gets tired quick ..ie. filling out an hourly application). But the people I deal with everyday, I'm not sure they can write. Or sign their name. Under the signature field....is usually a little scribble or a line pretending to be a name.

Sorry teachers out there but I really think schools are trying to make us dumb. with the math and so on.

Nothing as Texas...bad awfully bad stories from there lately including a dress code that requires everyone to wear just solid colors.

My handwriting skills are terrible, I only do handwriting about once a year....Christmas Cards. I agree, "if you don't use it, you lose it".:)

With all the powdered sugar all over all the tables and everywhere, we wondered how much of it they go through on a busy day...? o_O ;) :)

And, our beignets...! :hungry: :)

After Cafe Du Monde, we hung around the Jackson Square area checking out the artwork and shops.
On the walk back to our hotel across Canal Street, we stopped into some of the antique shops on Royal Street. One shop had a chandelier with a price tag of $150,000. 'Nuff said.

We're currently eating at a Panera Bread in Baytown, Texas.
Getting ready to pile back in the car.
Should be our last stop before home.
Thank you for posting your pictures, and sending us on another vacation!:joyfull::happy:

Goodness @betty rose ! 4: 30 a.m.? That is insane! Did you go to bed early to make up the difference? Or are you trying to be able to stay in the parks from open till close?
We do rope drop every morning. With one bathroom to share and getting ready then eating breakfast. It takes us about two hours. I know we are slow, ha! With the time change, we will be getting up at 3:30 local time.

I like grits because they remind me of cream of wheat, which I love. I guess you could say I like bland things. :p
I don't have it often, but Cream of Wheat is one of my favorites. I don't have it often because I like it, but, only with tons of sugar added. So I always feel guilty about eating it, besides to do it right it takes so much time. I found that CoW is not terribly microwave friendly. It's quite bubbly!
