We've probably all run into that. In college we had two classes that were taught by the same guy. They were Cost Accounting and Tax Accounting. The professor was at one time the CFO of General Electric. He had retired from GE and wanted to teach. It was obvious that he was totally versed on Accounting, however, he lacked the ability to convey that information to people that were just learning it. We all, and I'm talking about those that were high achievers and those that were just floating along trying to get a degree (you're all welcome to decide what area I fell in). We all were failing miserably. It got to the point where we would go to class and since this was in the pre-electronic era, we just swiveled in our seats and talked to each other during the class. We were all completely lost.

Over the Christmas break, the professor had a heart attack and died. He was replaced by a recently relocated West Indian gentleman that none of us were able to understand, so the story continued for another semester. They ended up giving all of us a C for both courses and sent us on our way out into the world doing everything in our power to avoid having anything to do with cost or tax accounting.
This is now the second bad professor I've had in my college career. The first was Statistics. The professor was a nice enough guy, but he taught off of a powerpoint (big no-no). And then we had days that were supposed to be for us to do problems in class and ask questions when we didn't know something. What it was was everyone sitting there, some working, some not, until one person decided he/she had had it, and got up and left, and then everyone else got up and left. Thank goodness for peer tutoring, which is how I got a B in that class.

At least for now in my finance course, we're doing stuff that was covered in Accounting. Thank goodness I did well in Accounting. And since I tutor accounting, I've seen the material multiple times. Kids in the class are like, "This wasn't covered in accounting," and I'm like, "Yeah, that definitely was." My accounting professor, who I had for both semesters of accounting, thank goodness, was a lawyer who retired and now teaches here part time. He knew how to teach. I've seen students fail accounting once, have him, and get an A or B in his class. I think if I start struggling in Finance, I'll have to go ask him for help. I went in late last week thanks to my asthma and missed Finance. Can't say I was sorry.

When the weather eventually cools I'm going to Lancaster Pa area to do some fabric shopping, one of my favorite stores doesn't have electricity, so I try and go on a bright sunny day! The owner is very nice and doesn't mind if you take a few bolts outside so you can see what the fabric looks like with better lighting, she also always has a tin of cookies behind the counter. We'll also get a bottle or 4 of wine (1 or 2 for holiday gifts) it's a bit of a drive but makes for a nice quick get away!:joyfull:

Wow. That sounds like a really nice trip. Kinda geeky, but I like looking at fabrics. A long time ago, my mother (may God rest her soul) and I went to a Scottish wool shop. The fabrics were so high quality and really pretty to look at. We bought a nice wool plaid to make a winter skirt. Fond memories of those days . . .

funny thing.. almost everyone in my country has a landline..
Since landlines are almost.. everything-proof.
While normal cell phones can have heavy outages thanks to rain or disasters.. landlines keeps working (infact, you could have a state wide power outage and landlines still work, since all phone stations have generators)
very reliable in case of emergencies.

We have a landline at home. We refuse to get rid of ours. Hubby has a fancy cell/smartphone whatever it is--with pictures, apps, etc. I have an old flip phone which is fine. But the landline here stays! :D

If my local bunnies want to play in my yard no problem. For some reason the groundhogs don't like my place:confused:

Groundhogs! I had to chuckle as this reminded me of a time when I was a kid, and my father concocted a trap in the back yard, to catch the groundhog. He thought the ground hog had been eating his plants in his garden, so this was war. He put together a wooden crate, and a stick to loosely prop it up--enough room for a groundhog to get in there, to head for the bait, and knock over the stick and get trapped under the crate.

So one night, my father put in the bait and set up the wooden box and stick. Came out the next morning--bait gone, wooden crate unmoved, and no ground hog! This went on for a few days. Finally, one morning, my mother was looking outside early, and she saw a small rabbit run in and out of the wooden crate with the bait in her mouth! Oh--and the groundhog--was over in the corner of my father's garden, contently munching away on his delicious tomatoes! :hilarious: :hilarious:

I dunno, it seems natural.. the guy runs around in and out of the reserve if I remember correctly.. and constantly plays with the guy who rescued him.

Still, Some animals can develop some sort of hypermuscle growth.. a genetic issue.
Even dogs can have it!

For example.. this doggy:

despite the huge musculature and he-man appearance.. She was reported to be extremely docile and playful.
The overmuscle isnt good of course... It can squeeze the lungs and heart If I remember correctly.
Poor girl, that must be really hard for her. I hope she has a concern owner. I would not like to see her suffer.

That's funny. My neighbor gets at least one bunny a week. He likes them as much as I do, just not eating his grass. I'm glad he is humane with them, and takes them to our library, it's in a nature preserve!

Well, enjoy it! As for moi, I plan to commute to work, stay indoors at work all day in the a/c, commute home and stay inside all night in our a/c here. We're supposed to have 3 days of this super hot weather before it gets better again. :( (I heard that the city brought in some huge fans, and extra drinking water, for the public school classrooms; most of the city public schools don't have a/c, and the temps, with humidity, are supposed to reach 93 today. This is highly unusual for early September around here.)

Stay cool! We are finally cooling down a little here, only 80 today.
