I've had terrible luck with the prelit trees, but that seems to be all that is available up here.
Last year, I got a good pair of scissors, cut out all the lights, working or not, and just strung it with new store bought lights. I also took the opportunity to swap out from mini clear lights to slightly larger, green and pink lights.
It took a little getting used to, but basically I was happy.
Hubby loved it. Didn't really want me to take it down.

Overall, the theme of my tree is Victorian, in purple, rose and cream (I weeded out the dusty rose years ago), so it worked.

Very pretty. Love the colors. I'll have to remember to take pictures of my trees and post.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
A number of years ago, I said to my dentist: You know you can't retire until I die, right?
Dr: You know I'm 25 years older than you, right?
Me: Well then, I guess you'd better start taking better care of yourself.

Sadly, since his hip replacement three years ago, he has been working less and less. He now only works 2 1/2 days per week, and takes lengthy vacations.

Today was my second visit with his partner (of more than 20 years).
Me: Okay Dr. D., you don't know me very well, so let me remind you that more freezing is better.
Dr. D: You want freezing?
Me: Yuh-huh. Lots of it. I want to be a dribbling, drooling fool.
Dr. D: Well I can take care of the dribbling and drooling part, but the fool bit's on you.
Me: Yeah, I got that covered.

Not drooling anymore, but my shirt full of coffee indicates I'm still dribbling.
The jury's out on the fool part.

Hubby and I do a 48-hour getaway to Buffalo twice a year.
Once in May, for our anniversary.
And once, the week after Black Friday, for Christmas shopping.

About five years ago, during one of our Christmas shopping trips, we went to bed one night with nary a flake in sight, only to wake up to 20+ inches the next morning. We had to mount a 5' snowbank to get to the Denny's next door for brekkie.
And then we went boot shopping.
When we arrived home the next evening, there was zero snow. Less than 70 minutes away.

Buffalo gets hit bad with lake effect snow. Looks like real snow. Feels like real snow. Paralyzes the city like real snow. But according to meteorologists, it's only "lake effect".
Lake effect blasts us all the time. :(
