We've had one of the driest Mays on record, and then, rain every day for the past 10 days - much of it all day/all night, and quite heavy.

This particular photo is of St. Paul's Ave. which dips low under the main trunk railroad bridge overhead.

What's most interesting to me, is the rain cascading from the yard on the right. You can't see it, but there is a 6 or 7 storey apartment building there. 30 years ago, when Hubby and I both worked at the same pizza place, Mr. Fletcher lived in that building, and would place the same delivery order twice/week. He always ended his order with, "Not too much cheese".

I showed this same pic to Mike, and he said, "I wonder if Mr. Fletcher got flooded out."
30 years after the fact. Dude's probably dead by now.
sounds like a complete turn around.. almost like that la niña vs el niño.

Good morning! Today peace and quite. For a few hours anyway! Great weather for walking this morning so I'm heading out right after the men! Way too much testosterone yesterday! Hopefully the boys finally learned "do not touch the tools without permission and don't ever leave them in their rooms". I'm not holding my breath about that rule!:mad: Yea! The A/C is up and running so I'm making stuffed cabbage for dinner tonight. The boys have been asking but that really heats up the house, so I decided to wait until the air was running. I'll make several trays some to vac seal and freeze so the boys will have some nuke food for really hot days. I've been filling the freezer bit by bit. For those with the bad weather I hope the sun comes out and says hello today!

Mine too! At 11 during the summer I walked 1/2 mile each way to swimming or music lessons by myself. It was a very safe neighborhood.

We walked, ran, rode our bikes, sledded down streets in winter with (occasional) cars, climbed plenty of trees, and would wander through (miles) of the woods all the time. Basically, in the summer when school was out, my brothers, our pals, and I would take off each day from 8 AM - 5 PM (although we did stop in briefly for lunch and then go out again). When we heard the bell (like a cow bell) that my parents would ring (around 5 PM) we'd come home for dinner. (That big ol' bell had a very loud, wide range; but also at the end of the day, we were a lot closer to the house.) Can you imagine what unfit parents they'd be considered by "some" today??!!

During summer vacation it was inside when the street lights came on for us.
