When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
@JenniferS , have you and your family done much outdoor cooking yet this season? You mentioned that your hubby can cook on the grill, so I was wondering if you ate dinner at home more (versus going out to restaurants) during the warmer months of the year.

This is not important for me to know. It's just that I'll use any excuse to talk about food! :hungry: :joyfull:
Yup, we've been barbecuing two or three times/week.
Less eating out now that Hubby's back to work. During the week, he doesn't get home until 9:30, which is a little late to head out to a restaurant, even for me. :hilarious:
We're both at work today, in different locations, and it's pouring rain, so we're going to hit Five Guys on the way home.

Wow. You guys really put in some serious work hours, and too bad you have to work on Sunday. But I assume that many potential buyers are off from work on Sundays, and it's probably a lucrative selling day for the both of you.

I hope you enjoy your dinner tonight at Five Guys! :hungry:

O.k. So I followed the logic (about the pool decks, locker rooms, etc.). I figured that was mostly what was behind your ammonia suggestion. But now I'm confuse (again . . .) about something you wrote above.

You indicated that hot water and bleach puts an end to the cycle. But I thought you only used hot water and ammonia, with some detergent, right? I mean ammonia and bleach are dangerous together, so do you use bleach (alone, with no ammonia) sometimes with your detergent, and other times, use ammonia (alone, without bleach) with your detergent?

Getting rid of cooties is getting even more complicated! ;)
Getting them is even harder!

@figmentfan423 , aside of a family vacation this summer, do you have any other fun plans? Do you have a bicycle that you ride, and are there good riding places where you live? I live in a kinda busy area, and I only go out on my bike early on a weekend morning, before any traffic is out.
The big family vacation is next year, so a few day trips. Edison's lab is the one my little guy is most looking forward to. I do get out and bike on sometimes, but much prefer walking. There are a few trails not too far from me that are good for biking, but I never seem to get over that way It's summer so I do 5+ miles a day unless the rain is horrid. We also swim, no diving board, but there's a slide. We also have a lake nearby, nice and quiet. I'm 3 blocks from the lake the walk around it is 2.5 miles. This is a good time of year to walk around here and see all the baby animals!

I know your pain, I had the same questions.. never did ribs before.
But seems that for speed.. you have to boil them first.. and then cook them slowly in the charcoal with the BBQ sauce.

But I know that pros actually slowcook them for hours in very special smoker grills. o_O

Yep, my pop has one serious smoker (he usually uses either mesquite or oak), and everything always comes out delectable...! :hungry: :)

You have plenty of fun activities in your area. That's great. I also walk a lot (just like you, but maybe not all at once. I figure that during the week, with the walks to and from buses and trains, and all the walking I do around the hospital complex I work at, it's probably a good 5 miles each day.) But the scenery at your lake sounds ideal for nice walks. We do have a local pond not far from where I live, and in the cooler months and during the winter, I'll often go up there on the weekends to walk around; I'll often see rabbits, squirrels and chipmunks! :) The only thing I hate is jogging, so I'll walk fast, but won't run.

As for a pool, there's a YMCA within a short ride, but I don't want to spend the money for a year's membership and only use it maybe once a week. Besides, it's really crowded from what I've heard. Glad you have a nice pool nearby.

Now, he's the type of cooking expert that is good to learn directly from. I think that ribs are more of a Southern dish overall, and the people down there have been perfecting their recipes and cooking methods for many years. (Don't tell your dad that I'm cooking my ribs in a crock pot, with a bottle of store-bought barbecue sauce!)

What I wouldn't give for pool time on vacation!!!!!!!! Last trip we we're even sure what it looked like where we stayed!:arghh::arghh::bawling::banghead: love my boys but.......

Yep, same here. We never even went to the pool on our last trip. We had 2 family suites (8 of us) at ASMusic.
On our previous trip the year before, we actually did hang out for a bit at both the Nemo and Cars (where we had 2 family suites for the 13 of us - yea, we may have broken the rules a bit with that extra person :cautious:) pools, since the resort was new, and the other family we were with had younger children. :)

No worries! Although he has his preferred method, good ribs are good ribs to pop. He'd be proud...! ;) :)

Whew. I figured he'd think I was a nutcase for using my crockpot and a bottle of barbecue sauce (that was on sale)! ;)

They have over 3 more hours to cook in the crockpot, and what I can tell you is that my dog (Jack) was just sighted with his front paws up on the kitchen counter, sniffing the outside of the crock pot!!! :p

Hee hee . . . dogs like to keep to their "routine" :hilarious: Change really freaks them out.

So funny!
Yesterday afternoon, I finally picked up Old Red (my first guitar) and started playing. Didn't realize I hadn't played since we got Belle and Ranger. They both freaked...!!!!! :joyfull:
At first, I though it was my playing :D, but after a while they really liked it, and by the end of the night they were both laying by me and listening. I really wished I was by a campfire out in the woods at that moment.

Last trip one night we only got 4 hours sleep before heading to line up for SWW and we stayed until closing. And yes we made rope drop at EPCOT the next morning! That's part of the reason we'll be off sight again next year. As soon as my little guy is off to college my dh and I are planning to stay on sight to enjoy the resort.
