I wouldn't put my body on display unless swim suits went from the neck to the ankles, like in the old days. At my age it's not a pretty sight.:D

Heh, heh . . . well, from my observation of the guests at both water parks, not everyone is svelte or looks good in a swimsuit. I saw all shapes and sizes, and people are just having fun. Nobody cares how others look, unless they're really out of place and come to a water park in a business suit, for example! ;)

speaking of boats.. arent they removing most boats?
I remember somewhere that almost all the rent services for boats in resorts like POR are being removed.

Yikes. No, I haven't heard of them removing any of the boats. All I'm familiar with are the little boats in the MK area, and I think you can still rent them at the Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, the Grand Floridian, and the Poly (although with all the construction there at Poly over the past year, I'm not sure if they're still renting).

As much as I love Disney or WDW in particular, I have always done exploring outside the parks. I don't mean just to other parks like Uni or SeaWorld. I have found places that I didn't know existed like Boc Tower. It is such a quiet place. I sat on a bench under a big live Oak (complete with moss) and promptly fell asleep. Years ago I went to Cyprus Gardens when it still was that and the Citrus Tower on my way to Silver Springs and back then it was just miles and miles of oranges. Not so much anymore because the Fruit Fly wiped a lot of the trees out. Still some, but not as many as there once was. I have gone to the beaches on both sides of the state for day trips, wandered the back roads just to see what the real Central Florida looked like. Taken a helicopter tour over WDW from a site on 127 and took pictures from above all the parks except MK which had a no fly zone in affect at the time. Gatorland, The Sunshine Bridge on the other side of Tampa. I even took an overnight trip to Key West and stopped at every pull off on the road. I could sit in my car and look to my left and see the Atlantic Ocean and then glance to the right and be looking at the Gulf of Mexico (same water, different name). Ended up driving back through the Everglades after midnight. I never met another car or saw one in front or behind. Cranked up the radio and just enjoyed the trip. I forget the name of the town where the big Orange Juice factory is located, it's not to far from Kissimmee, but the smell of orange blossoms were so strong and wonderful it was amazing.

So I have this affliction that doesn't allow me to sit in one spot for very long before I become bored to tears, but, I'm not complaining because I have seen a lot by just letting my wandering mind lead the way.

Your adventures were so cool. I'd also do more of that type of exploring if I just had more time down there, although I haven't even considered renting a car over the past maybe 8 years or so. The traffic around the Orlando area is as bad as any city highway, and roads down there are confusing to me. Many years ago, I would drive to various places.

Always wanted to get to Boc Tower. I did, however, get to Cypress Gardens (with my mother ages ago). We saw a water ski show, a bird show, and had a lovely tour of the magnificent gardens. One year, I went to the Florida Citrus Tower and then took the tour of the orchards; it was a whole different world down there. I really liked it. (I'm thinking that maybe the town you're thinking of with the orange smell might have been Clermont, but not positive.) Oh, I've also been to Gatorland; that was a hoot! :hilarious:

Lastly, I just recalled another fun off-road place, and when I went, it was very simply done with no fancy signs, etc. Might have been off some back dirt roads, too. (The signs leading to it were old pieces of wooden boards that they'd hand paint arrows, and "This way to . . ." sorts of directions.) I have a link below that I "think" might be the same place. I was there about 25 years ago, so I'm not positive it's the same place, but I think it might be. At that time, I had a flight in an OPEN cockpit old plane (like a WW II warbird style); they gave me this hood-type hat to wear and goggles. It was a BLAST!! It was a 2-seater plane and gave the best view of the areas we flew over. The link below doesn't show the plane I was in, but again, I was there so long ago--if this is the place I actually visited.

Oh boy! Now my little angels think we should add the water parks and more option! We've never been to either! If you've been how long do you usually spend there? Now I really wish we had @StarWarsGirl95's wisdom on the subject!
We usually spend about two to four hours at a time at a waterpark. We also do Disney Quest and now some of the minature golf courses. They each take about two hours of your time after travel time, for us at least.

I like your adventurous soul. I'm a homebody, and that's why I like going to Disney, year after year, it's a safe comforting place to me.
Just so it doesn't get confusing, all those were side trips from my scheduled Disney trip. I used Disney (or at least the area close to Disney) as my base camp. My target was always Disney, but, happily, sometimes my aim was off and I ended up on the outer edges of the target. :joyfull:

I haven't been to War Birds, but, I have seen the sign while searching for a public golf course in Kissimmee. I wondered what was there, but, the sign didn't do much to entice me in. ;)
