Looked up the first air date, and it was back in 1960. For some reason, I thought it was well before that, only because many of the reruns were in black and white. Color episodes didn't happen until 1965.
I have a confession, I never liked that program, but watched it many times because I shared households with people that did like it. That said, I know it was popular and living here in NC, especially Raleigh, where Barney used to frequent, I am even less of a fan. So many channels carry that program, one that practically runs it all day long, it makes me want to throw things at the TV.

The one concession I made, the time that I was so bored that I got in my car and drove to Mount Airy, NC (Andy's hometown) to see the street that came close to copying the street in Mayberry. That was complete with courthouse, jail and black & white Ford Sheriff's car***. I also had to drive past Pilot Mountain (Mount Pilot on the show). That was fairly cool, but when I first moved here I spent time exploring the areas branching out from Raleigh and you didn't have to go very far out before you would be going through areas where you thought for sure that you would see Floyd sitting outside the barbershop.
I had a picture of it in my photo stash (electronic) until my computer bid farewell to the world and spectacularly had a Hard drive attack and passed away.

I tried watching it too. My parents have been pretty on top of my older TV show education, so I've seen episodes of various older TV shows (Gilligan's Island, the original Batman TV show, I Dream of Jeannie, etc.). I couldn't really get into it. I couldn't get into Matlock either. Although I think Andy Griffith was a genuinely nice guy, just didn't care for either of his shows.

Get Smart remains my favorite 60s TV show. 😂 I've seen every episode at least twice.

My parents had role into my older tv shows and movies also. The oldest movies I was able to get into was the stuff from the Marx Brothers.

The tv shows that I enjoyed from the 60s are Perry Mason, Addams Family, The Munsters, Hogan's Heroes, and Gunsmoke.

When I was a kid, I was into Dragnet aka 1960s version and the original Star Trek. I liked the Wolf in the Fold Episode on Star Trek, and The Trouble with Tribbles episode the best.

I never really got into the original Batman tv series and I was pleased the 1989 Batman movie was not like the tv show.

Speaking of the Hershey Theater, Mamma Mia is coming to both the Hippodrome and Hershey Theater. At Baltimore, it costs $130 for balcony seats. At Hershey, it costs $72 for similar seats. Guess where we decided to go? 😂
I want to go so badly but the boys have classes. It's just a bit too far to drive down see the show and drive back.:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
I miss Hershey having its own airport which made day trip doable

My brother also visited Mount Airy some years ago, just out of curiosity. He said it was pleasant, but that was about it. (He recently moved up to Virginia. Luckily, he had already crossed off Mount Airy from his bucket list!) ;)

Get Smart is up there, but would you believe that Hogan's Heroes is my #1 favorite.

Yeah, I met my husband on an online game called a MUD. (Multi-User Dungeon) I was playing the game when some jerk started sending me messages asking for intimate things and I asked him to leave me alone and he didn't. My husband was an admin on the site, so I sent him a message telling him this guy was harassing me. He had the ability to listen in on private messages, and he could ban people. So he listened in and banned the creep. We became friendly, but I was in a relationship at the time, so it was purely a friendly thing...if we were both on, we'd say hi and such, and might have a conversation, just like you would with the regular cashier at the grocery store you go to, or when you're waiting for the bus at the bus stop, etc. But neither of us were on that game to find a mate...it wasn't like a dating site. When I ended the relationship I was in, he admitted that he had a crush on me. And now we're married. But I think a lot of those dating sites are....creeptastic? I don't know....I don't think I'd trust them. Especially ones where you make dates based solely on someone's picture. Ugh.
That's a cute story actually...❤️

Yeah, where I am is about as far away as I'd do it. Considering how long it takes to get out of the Hippodrome, it's probably like an hour more of time spent, but the ticket savings are worth it.

They've also got the touring production of Shrek coming, so I'm trying to talk Mom into that one. 😂 It's not coming to Baltimore.

Mom and I are going to see Celtic Woman tomorrow at the Hippodrome. There's this thing called Lucky Seats. Basically, you go into a drawing, and if they draw your name, you can buy tickets at insanely reduced prices. I've won it once before, and Mom won one time. And I won for Celtic Woman, which absolutely shocked me because they're doing one show, so my odds were not good. So we're going. No idea where our seats are, but it should be a good show.
