The Chit Chat Chit Chat Thread

I heard similar but not in that place. But that the owner was actually a mafia using the pizza in the front. But they loved the pizza and it racked so much money.. the boss and the enforcers just decided to switch to all time pizza.

Without being dramatic, I was dealt the final nail on the coffin on my canadian life today.. so yeah. Not exactly feeling really healthy right now. And yes, I'm in the verge of a panic attack trying to use whatever to distract me.

After 5 months here and still no trace of any job. Had a few interviews, but most of the recruiters were abysmal. They all were trying to get me hired for things I need full expertise and certs where I have not or they simply never read my CV correctly and assumed so... out of 3000 or more job opportunities tried, only had 10 interviews, of these 3 were really good but was in the third or 4th in the line. And have not heard again. The others were not very keen of me being deaf or they need someone full time all the time for at least a year and other excuses. To resume I'm still jobless and still trying.

But the final nail of the coffin was today.
Out of nowhere one of the managers of the jobs I'm barely hanging a thread with.. said they were going to change the method of paying.. again (they have switched 6 times in the past 6 months). I submit my request..
and out of nowhere comes the boss saying "We agreed you to never give support again". Which is a lie. He told me to dont give support to the old companies's clients.. but limit myself to 2 hours PER DAY for the new company.
I guess he wants again to shaft me, without this.. I'm 100% bankrupted.

So yes, I'm already debating how to get back to Mexico by the end of this month.
I will have to sell a bit of the stuff I have here.

So very sorry to hear about all the job drama with your life up in Canada. But, at least you tried, and now you know, instead of having to always wonder “What if…?”
I hope you can get back home soon, and find gainful employment quickly…good luck…!!! :)

I hope you bought some of the meatballs for dinner. They are really great.

I do like their furniture and household goods as well. I bought a coffee table and end table there about 18 years ago and they are holding up good. Well, the coffee table leg has seen better days but that is because when our dog Kapono was a puppy she liked to chew on it, but that isn't Ikea's fault. I was going to replace it with a table/storage bench but then we got Baxter and he likes to hang out under the table. So I guess I'm stuck with this coffee table for many more years to come. Oh well at least it reminds me of my lovely Kapono and Baxter enjoys it too.
I decided to try there because there's a desk in my office from there that's older than I am.

I got some really nice dinnerware. Some plates, bowls, glasses, and wine glasses. I am still very excited about the 99 cent glass bowls. My parents have glass bowls that are older than I am. We've broken a bunch over the years and until today, I've never found any that I've liked as well. I also got a carafe for iced tea and a pitcher for milk (I'm going to keep some down here for cereal, but it doesn't make sense to continuously buy smaller ones for my purposes). I also got a wicker basket for storing piano music, which I had seen online and immediately was like "ah, a solution for my piano music!" 🤣

Furniture wise, I got a bookcase and a new dresser for my bedroom. I was going to get more, but apparently, I wasn't instantly approved for the projekt credit card (I have a credit score of over 800...🤦‍♀️) so I decided to hold off, but then I realized I could use my PayPal credit on my furniture purchases and pay over time, so I did that instead.

And probably a few other random things I'm forgetting. I'm most excited about the dishware because the quality is excellent and it wasn't expensive at all (I think for four plates it was $12?)

Most of my furniture is Ikea. My kitchen cabinets, countertops, faucet, and range hood are Ikea.

My parents have never really shopped there, mostly because they don't like putting furniture together themselves.

Well, actually because Dad is highly challenged when it comes to putting furniture together himself. 🤣 It's painful to watch...

unfortunately the "try" didnt last even 5 months. Worst is that I didnt get anything of what I had planned to do. Sure.. I lived here for a few month and got to experience the canadian life. But apart from that and some friendships? nothing much to show

Something I never experienced or plan to is being in Canada during winter. Our vacations in Vancouver and Toronto were in the summer time. One evening in Vancouver the sky was sunny until 1130pm then set and by 2am the sun rose and the Sunny and bright. It was bizarre.

Cesar, I'm so sorry to learn, that despite all your efforts to get a good job up there, things didn't work out. You gave it your best; but unfortunately, sometimes the stars don't align in our favor. Despite this letdown, I feel that the overall knowledge gained in your journey, might be beneficial in some way, down the road. (Not that this is much help, but I think about the Chinese proverb: "When one door closes, another one opens.")

It is not a local thing with wondering how Papa John's stays in business. Mom ordered Papa John's once when I was a teenager and the pizza and it was worst pizza I had at the time. There were other relatives had the same issue with Papa John's.
I occasionally get it when they have a good deal. They're also the only place that delivers here, so when I had covid back in 2022, I ordered from them because I had no food. If you get the thin crust pizza, it's fine, but the local place which is run by Italians is definitely better.

And I don't mean NY Italians. They're immigrants from Italy. Which is why the food is so amazing. I've taken people from NY to this place and they have said it's the best pizza they've had outside of NY.

Ever try adding Old Bay seasoning to have a little kick in that pizza? Old Bay is not just for crabs. Adding OB to popcorn, corn on the cob etc gives the food a little zest.

Are you really explaining that Old Bay is for more than crabs...to a Marylander?
