I decided to order from my local pizza/Italian place and I'm wondering how the local Papa John's even stays in business since everyone in town seems to be here...
It is not a local thing with wondering how Papa John's stays in business. Mom ordered Papa John's once when I was a teenager and the pizza and it was worst pizza I had at the time. There were other relatives had the same issue with Papa John's.

yeas of cost cuts and paying less to employees usually does that. I'm still amazed at the documentary about the rise and fall of KFC and how many companies repeat the same for short term profits.
With people projecting the same happening to Popeye's as they repeat the same mistakes.

Thereā€™s a local pizza chain down in Austin called Conanā€™s Pizza. Their signature pizza is Chicago-style deep dish. They first opened in 1976 down on the UT campus. Itā€™s always been rumored that they were originally a front for selling weed, but, people liked their pizza so much, they went legit, and ended up opening 2 more locationsā€¦!!!!! :hilarious:

I heard similar but not in that place. But that the owner was actually a mafia using the pizza in the front. But they loved the pizza and it racked so much money.. the boss and the enforcers just decided to switch to all time pizza.
@Cesar R M , how's everything going up there in Canada? Any good local restaurants that you like?
Without being dramatic, I was dealt the final nail on the coffin on my canadian life today.. so yeah. Not exactly feeling really healthy right now. And yes, I'm in the verge of a panic attack trying to use whatever to distract me.

After 5 months here and still no trace of any job. Had a few interviews, but most of the recruiters were abysmal. They all were trying to get me hired for things I need full expertise and certs where I have not or they simply never read my CV correctly and assumed so... out of 3000 or more job opportunities tried, only had 10 interviews, of these 3 were really good but was in the third or 4th in the line. And have not heard again. The others were not very keen of me being deaf or they need someone full time all the time for at least a year and other excuses. To resume I'm still jobless and still trying.

But the final nail of the coffin was today.
Out of nowhere one of the managers of the jobs I'm barely hanging a thread with.. said they were going to change the method of paying.. again (they have switched 6 times in the past 6 months). I submit my request..
and out of nowhere comes the boss saying "We agreed you to never give support again". Which is a lie. He told me to dont give support to the old companies's clients.. but limit myself to 2 hours PER DAY for the new company.
I guess he wants again to shaft me, without this.. I'm 100% bankrupted.

So yes, I'm already debating how to get back to Mexico by the end of this month.
I will have to sell a bit of the stuff I have here.

In NYC good food can be found at Sparks Steakhouse and Raos which are mafia run and financed.

I went to IKEA today. Believe it or not, I've never been to an IKEA.

I don't wanna talk about how much I spent...

I hope you bought some of the meatballs for dinner. They are really great.

I do like their furniture and household goods as well. I bought a coffee table and end table there about 18 years ago and they are holding up good. Well, the coffee table leg has seen better days but that is because when our dog Kapono was a puppy she liked to chew on it, but that isn't Ikea's fault. I was going to replace it with a table/storage bench but then we got Baxter and he likes to hang out under the table. So I guess I'm stuck with this coffee table for many more years to come. Oh well at least it reminds me of my lovely Kapono and Baxter enjoys it too.

I'm so sorry that Canada hasn't worked out for you. I was sincerely hoping you would find success there.

I honestly believe it was probably the worst timing I could have chosen. If i had the changed to have done this before the pandemic. It would have been much better for me.
