I think it goes without saying that every situation is different. You are talking about being blocked or attempt to be block what you wanted to do with your life. Certainly playing video games is not a lifelong goal. At some point reality has to either be sought or forced upon people. Otherwise who is going to pay for the electricity to run the huge quantity of electronics. At some point in life everyone has to be able to adapt to life as it is or the only real occupation will be a phycologist teaching stuff that people should have learned in their adolescent years. There is a world of difference between saying, you are not going to be something I don't want you to be and saying get off your butt and become whatever it is you want to be, just do something.
I thought maybe he wanted to design video games, etc. For a while, my son wanted to be a youtuber. (He was like 7 or 8, so not really a realistic life view.) And there are definitely people who make a lot of money doing that, but it's kind of luck and not skill. The right person has to find and like your channel, and you never know whether or not you will get to that level. I don't think you can exactly plan for that. But he DOES still want to work with computers now. He's just more realistic about it. He's not sure exactly what he wants to do, but he could go into programming, or game design, or any number of things and he'd be paid to play games all day. Who knows what form it will take. But he's going to go to college and get the education first. But yeah, it's not a free pass....it's something you have to work for. It's not just going to drop in your lap while you're playing a game one day.

This reminds me of parents Influencing children or similar to that term is how Filipino American comedian Jo-Koy who is the host for the upcoming Golden Globes made a joke about in his comedy tour. He jokes about what some Filipinos wanted to pursue in their dreams and goals and actually what their parents wanted the kids to pursue - Nursing. This is also an easier way to gain legal work permits to live and work in the USA, and send money back home regularly to the Philippines to support family. Nothing can be closer to the truth. A Filipino therapist who helps out my family member advised a RN in Manila makes $6 or approx 300 pesos a day. This is much different when the same Filipino RN can make $70K or more per year in the USA.

What will A do after graduation, will he be in a university like E?
He's not eligible to go to University. Only students who complete the highest level of high school can go to University. He would have to stream through from the level he currently does to the level E is doing and complete that first. OR he can go to a junior college to get basically an associates degree and then stream through to a University. But university diplomas here are basically the equivalent of a masters in the US, so it's a much higher level of education. Not everything can be studied at University. University is for more academic fields.

But A goes to a special education school exclusively for kids with Autism. His school is significantly smaller than a standard high school. They don't offer E's level, which is why he's doing the one below that. He qualified for the highest level, but his school doesn't offer that level. They also don't offer every profile. He wanted to do the same profile that E does (Nature and Technology). The problem is that so few kids who go to his school can handle the intensity of the highest level, or the Nature and Technology profile. That profile requires Physics and the most difficult math. Only the top 20% of kids in the Netherlands qualify for the highest level of high school, and when you take out the kids within that top 20% who have Autism AND who can't go to a regular school because of it (not every kid with Autism needs to go to a special education school. Most don't) there just aren't enough kids to justify paying for teachers for every subject for 1 or 2 students. Same with Physics and the difficult math...the number of students at his school who want to do that profile is like...2. They can't hire a physics teacher for 2 kids. So they just don't offer the profile that requires that.

But there's a high school for adults. Over here, you get a certificate for every subject you do an exam in and pass. If you get the right certificates, you can trade them in for a diploma. But sometimes, people will pass everything but, say Math. So if they passed everything else, they still get certificates in those subjects. But they can't get the diploma without a certificate in math. So then they can go to the adult high school just to take the math class. So A plans to go to the adult high school when he's done so he can take Physics and Math B. (That's the most difficult math) Then when he's done those, he can choose to go back to a regular school to do the level E is doing, OR he can choose to go to a junior college. Technically, he doesn't qualify to go to the Adult high school, because you have to be at least 18, and he will only be 16 when he graduates. But there's an exception if you have already gotten a diploma from high school before you turn 18. There are kids who skip grades, etc, which is basically what A did. He basically skipped a year of kindergarten. It wouldn't be fair to punish them for graduating early, so if you already have a diplima, but you are missing certain requirements for a specific major, you can go to the adult high school to get those credits. It sounds a lot more complicated than it is.

That's a nice gesture.

However, Figgy can't make snow angels unless she has snow. 🥰

Here you go, Figgy!

I thought of you at work yesterday!! The high temp for yesterday was 3 Celsius, and we have to keep the door open at the store. The floor manager wasn't there, and none of us knew how to turn on the heater, so it was 10 Celsius in the store. Customers were complaining about how cold it was, so we had to call the manager to ask how to turn on the heater. But I was thinking " @MinnieM123 would love this!!"

Speaking of snow, so far I think we've had 9 inches. It's still snowing a bit. (I'll check the weather reports later, to see the exact amount.) Been outside twice today, shoveling. Loved it!! 🥰
I was watching the Pats and Jets who are having terrible seasons this year and that snow is coming down hard in MA!

No problem as they're very friendly! Heck they even like the boys, mostly because the deer smell better

BTW the pics were taken without the use of a zoom. I just walked up and started talking to them. They also listen better than the boys:cautious:

Close enough to do this,

Southern Wisconsin is getting a good snow storm on Tuesday with it starting around Midnight and end early Wednesday morning.

Where I live is likely to be in the 3 to 6 inches of snow range on Tuesday although the weather people are not completely sure on the potential totals. The reason only for 3 to 6 inches is if you like near lake Michigan like I do.

Yep, looks like it is coming all your way and it might give us a dusting. That's fine, if it doesn't give us a school closure then I'd rather not get any snow.
