@Figgy1 -- Hi Figgy! Hey, it's raining up here again . . . :p
Same fabulous for late December weather here as well!!!!!!!!!!!!! The guys are talking debating between endless appetizers or BBQ this weekend, they have about 5 hours to decide so I can defrost what's needed in time. We're keeping our fingers crossed the weather holds for the family Christmas/New Year get together next weekend.
Do you have big party plans for Sunday?

Usually on N.Y. Eve, we do take-out Chinese food. The nice little family-run restaurant closed this year, and we've been looking around at other Chinese restaurants that we may, or may not, try for that night. So plans are still up in the air.

Plans for me for New Years Eve is not big at all. Just a New Years Eve Spread. The big meal would be on New Years day with the mushrooms, porterhouse streak, and baked potatoes.

The (2) Chinese family run places in my area are normally closed on Monday with the exception of last Monday Dec 25 when they were open 11am-10pm. Families of the Jewish faith came out in huge numbers to eat on Dec 24/25.

That menu sounds delish! Our plans changed again as of last night. A cousin of hubs is coming up on Saturday, and wants to take us out to dinner. I think we're going to a seafood restaurant near the ocean.

The next day (N.Y. Eve) we decided against doing take out at a new Chinese restaurant; because all of those restaurants are so hectic that night, and often create an abbreviated menu -- for that one night only.

Hence, we're postponing our N.Y. Eve dinner to another night next week -- to try one of the newer Chinese restaurants, with their usual full menu. We figured that's a better way to decide if we like the new place or not.

@donaldtoo -- just checking in, to see if you've finished moving into your new house yet, or if you're still finishing up loose ends. (I didn't know when your actual moving dates were.) I imagine between the move, and your work schedule, you must be exhausted. So, wishing you and family a (hopefully -- relaxing!) long weekend, and a Happy New Year.

Want to know when you can give up and admit you are a senior? Sunday I am going out to dinner at 4 PM. (sigh) It really sucks to get old, but better than the alternative, I guess. As an added verification, I haven't stayed up until midnight since before Dave Clark died. I don't care when the ball drops as long as it's not on my head. To be honest the last time I stayed up until midnight was 1999/2000 and that was just to see if I had to bother to set my alarm the next day or if the world ended right after midnight. Y2K was a major disappointment. The rest of the year was interesting though.
