I have an excellent Italian place near me. It's run by Italians. You need to make a trip to Jersey for real food that's not heavy! You'll never eat at OG again

I went to OG one time. Never again.
@Tony the Tigger somebody needs an interventionBut you can't beat the free breadsticks. That's dinner by itself. I haven't been to Olive Garden in forever so.
I've actually never been to any Olive Garden. But you can't beat the free breadsticks. That's dinner by itself. I haven't been to Olive Garden in forever so.
That's really disappointing. I'm just hoping that there is a much better restaurant in your area, that you and your friends can go to next time.Let me tell you a little recent story, Wednesday night to be exact. I went with friends to a very expensive restaurant/steak house that was very close to where I live. I had been there before, last December to be exact, and only had one complaint that I crossed off as a fluke and didn't worry about it. I love French Onion Soup and that was one of the sides available. When I got it I found that the bowl was basically a couple of huge hunks of bread with French Onion soup liquid added and soaked up by the bread and found no more the two small strips of onion in it. The cheese was high quality but I was disappointed in it. The rest of rest of the dinner was fine.
Leap ahead 12 months from there and, as I said, I am at the same place again. Feeling that the soup thing was a fluke, I ordered that again and, need I say, it was exactly the same as the previous year. I mean other than the liquid which had saturated the bread, there was no more than two soup spoons of liquid left. This part isn't a complaint but the cheese and I normally like being thick was like chewing gum. It took forever to work it down to what could be swallowed. Tasted good, but I was thinking that my main meal would be there before I could finish it.
Anyway, I had ordered Prime Rib and my friends (one couple) had ordered a 42 ounce piece to beef (for two) in which the connecting rib bone was still attached and was at least 1.5 feet long with a hunk of meat attached at the end for $110. My other friend order a $54.00 Ribeye and I ordered a 14 oz Prime Rib.
The hundred dollar dog bone was fine they seemed to like it, however my friends Ribeye was like a piece of shoe leather and she couldn't chew it at all. They offered her a new one, but she decided not to and took the meat home for her dog. They didn't charge her for the steak. Then we come to me. When he put plate down in front of me, my immediate reaction was that something was wrong, but my oldtimers brain wasn't able to connect the dots right away. It was charred and small but I still didn't connect the dots. Only about a half inch thick and extremely tough to chew. The offered me the same thing but I had it 3/4 eaten already and said no, so they gave me a free dessert (that was good).
It wasn't until I got home that it finally dawned on me that they gave me a Ribeye that was about the same size and toughness as my friends, instead of the ($59.00) Prime Rib I had ordered. Since I have since then looked closer at my check, they only charged me for the Ribeye, but once again disappointed to pay that much for so little. So the only part of my $89.00 meal including tip, that I enjoyed, was the free $11.00 dessert. (Chocolate Cheesecake, if anyone is taking notes). I know that many have paid more than that for a high end experience, but I would have enjoyed a McDonalds Qtr. pounder w/cheese more or a McRib even more. Now I do realize that I should have immediately noticed that it wasn't prime rib, but it just never occurred to me that a place with their reputation would have gotten my order that wrong and I am taking the brunt of the blame for it, however, I've even had much better Ribeye at Texas Roadhouse. I am not giving second thoughts to ever paying that much for a dinner out again. Won't happen!
P.S. The mashed potatoes were quite good though.
The Breadsticks are still great. I went early this week and is the only time I go to Olive Garden this year. But you can't beat the free breadsticks. That's dinner by itself. I haven't been to Olive Garden in forever so.
Me neither.I've actually never been to any Olive Garden.
You would not believe the size of the crowds that go there every single night. They have their entire property, which is gigantic, massively decorated for Christmas, inside and out. It is a spectacular display and we had to make reservations last December to get in this December. Right now I am puzzled about why! I cannot believe that I am the only one that has had this experience. People take their whole families kids and all. One party there Wednesday night was a family of basically 4 adults and 5 kids. One would have to take out a mortgage to pay that check. I wouldn't be surprised if the waitstaff drive to work in new Cadillacs. That's really disappointing. I'm just hoping that there is a much better restaurant in your area, that you and your friends can go to next time.
Not missing much.Me neither.
You are not missing anything by not going to the Olive Garden . Mom and Pop pizza places in parts of the Northeast serve better Italian fare than the OG. I would not like to be a waiter at the OG when the family orders the endless soup salad and breadsticks special.I've actually never been to any Olive Garden.
Not me. I only go to Olive Garden on younger brother's birthday. Friend of the family gave a $50.00 gift card for Olive Garden.@Tony the Tigger somebody needs an intervention
