33.5 F here as we speak. I suspect things have come to a standstill. Folks down here have a hard time relating to refrigerator temperatures.
Check your tire psi , and if one has summer tires, swap them out for all seasons. Summer tires being driven under 40 degrees has no traction / unsafe .

Tires were not the issue here. It is the temperature. In NC people either have all seasons or bald tires. It doesn't really matter because no one knows how to drive in snow or ice anyway. That is why everything comes to a standstill in snow and due to the need for parka, mittens and wool hats physical movement is slowed down to a crawl in the cold.

Typically not a thing below the mason-dixon line. We have all season tires here. In Maryland snow tires are illegal except in our western counties.
I don't think snow tires are illegal, however studded snow tires are it is just that there is very little need for snow tires down here unlike the frozen north. If snow tires were illegal below the mason/dixon line all those huge lugged tires on the gun rack in the window, 4X4 pickup trucks driven by the good old boys would be silent. On the plus side our reliance on fossil fuels would probably diminish to just a minor problem.

{{HUGS}} What's going on that you've been colder than me this year?
Best I can figure out, they live on the edge of the smokey mountains where the weather is a lot like the north country during the cold seasons whereas your proximity to the Ocean and the Gulf Stream keeps you generally warmer than the the western part of NC. I'm guessing that they are close to 300 miles from the ocean. In Raleigh we are only about 140 miles from the ocean and even we have very little affect weatherwise. They generally have less snow because there aren't any humongous bodies of water that allow the clouds to pick up moisture.

Maybe but she's usually a few degrees warmer than be because I'm in the "mountains" well inland
