Time to break out the Parka!

I suppose that 76 is young, but since I just turned 75 I find it quite normal for the age. It seems to be the segway window (76 to 86) when you go from semi-vibrant to that big Margaretta bar in the sky. I'm going to try to go to infinity and beyond, but we all have limited control of the future.
A number of my friends and peers, former peers didn't even make it past 55-65. Some passed within 1 year of early retirement . Someone to live to 76 is a long life.

Just like with mine the ones we focus in on are the ones that are closest to our own ages. My field of vision at this time is with the people mostly my age as I'm sure yours are as well.

Indeed for the parka…!!!!! :coldfeet: :cold::hilarious:

And yea, the age thing is all relative, I guess. Mom is 84, and Pop is 90. They’ve slowed down over recent years, of course, but, neither have mobility issues, and both are still mentally sharp, although Pop is a bit hard of hearing…all those years using power tools without proper ear protection.
My grandfather on my Pop’s side (born in 1900) died at 77 (3 days shy of his 78th birthday) from colon cancer, only because he didn’t go to the doctor ‘til my grandmother tricked him into it, and then it was too late. She died 2 weeks shy of her 96th birthday.
My grandfather on my Mom’s side died at age 89, and my grandmother on my Mom’s side died at age 93.
So, yea, all that probably gives me a bit of a skewed perspective on age. But, hey, I’m only 60, so I’ll cling to it, for now…!!!!! 😁:hilarious:

From what you have posted on this board, I'd say that you have very strong gene's in the family, but even with that, I'll bet you that there isn't a day that goes by that they don't ask themselves if tomorrow will be that day. Just a natural thing. As we get older we tend to have it cross our minds more often. Don't get me wrong, it isn't something we think about constantly, but I'll guarantee you that they have the thought. People like your parents are not just physically strong, but mentally strong as well. I joke about it myself, but you will have to understand that I refuse to just let myself be old and as long as I can move a limb, I will "not go gentle into that good night" and will "rage against the dying of the light," I don't remember it entering my brain box when I was 60 either. I have a mixed likelihood because my mom passed at 87 but my dad was only 74. So I'm up for grabs at this point, but unless they make me an offer I can't refuse, I will be fighting it every inch of the way.

To each their own but for me quality is way more important than quantity. After seeing my mother's horrible and slow decline I plan to check out a bit early while things are still good and I leave this earth how, where and when I want to.

I saw something really gross on the overground today. A man sneezed into his hands (already gross, use your elbow dude), but after sneezing into his hands, he looked at them and .... then he licked the snot off.
It's been 3 hours and I still feel a little nauseous.
I know that feeling because I had to deal with a student did something very gross with snot in the early 90s I am not sharing details.

That student wasn't the only doing questionable stuff at the time, there were 1 or 2 students in that class that ate paper:facepalm:.

Disgusted Emma Stone GIF

I have a cold right now and there is no way I want to be licking my snot....:depressed:

Oh and as a teacher I have witnessed kids doing some gross things during lessons, including one picking his nose this past Friday but never what you witnessed.
