For ceiling fans you have the blades spin counterclockwise to help with cooling breeze
In winter you have blades spin clockwise to circulate warm air in the room, up draft , while you have the heater on
Both items don't stress your central AC and heat to work overtime
And of course change your filters on a regular basis.
Eeeh, but your reply has nothing to do with what I said o_O
I'm just talking about the LACK of cooling fans or ceiling fans.

I think what @Cesar R M was trying to say is that he was surprised that more homes in the USA don’t have ceiling fans because they are helpful. And not debating on direction of how blades should spin or a brand of fan. Is that right Cesar?
I merely added the ceilIng spin info and fans purpose even in winter. No debate.

I think the ratio for ceiling fans to non ceiling fans is about equal. The south is a big user of Ceiling fans. I have one in each room of my apartment and my daughters houses all have ceiling fans. When I lived up north there weren't many but most of the houses were built before the usefulness of the fans was common knowledge. The last place I lived in Vermont had ceiling fans but most up north do not because so many of the buildings were built before the advent of their popularity. Also the last thing you want in your place if it's -15 F is a draft.

Do you have ceiling fans? When my home was built in 1994, ceiling fans were installed in all of the house except the bathrooms. High vaulted ceilings in all rooms except bathrooms and laundry room. I run them 24/7 with the AC. I have Hunter ceiling fans and I never had a problem with them in 29 years. I just turn them off to clean and dust off the exteriors monthly and change light bulbs every few years. I set the AC even a little higher because the fans do a great job cooling the home.

Yes, we have ceiling fans. One in each of the bedrooms, and one in the living room.
We bought the house in ‘89 (it was a foreclosure), and it came with the fans, so I’m not sure how old they are, but, the home was built in ‘81.
Not sure what brand they are (never checked), but, they’ve been runnin’ without a hitch for 34+ years.
The one in the living room has been runnin’ pretty much non-stop for the last 3+ months.
And yes, they do help keep the AC from having to work so hard.

First of all, glad to hear that Matthew is back at work. I hope he paces himself, and that his boss gives him breaks, so that he can rest his leg a bit. With your MIL living at your house now, I understand how the a/c would need to be set a bit higher during the day, when others are away at work.

We've been prudent with our (2 window units) a/c, and cut back on running them. But you know, I despise summer, and sometimes I have to put them on blast. (Checked last years' bills against current ones, and we have used less power, overall.) Still, in summer, the usage kicks up the price big time, and this month was $100 more than a month ago, when we didn't have much hot weather.

Thanks, Minnie…!!! :)
He’s still in a boot, and takes his walker with him in case his leg starts hurting too much, and, of course, is allowed to take breaks as needed. But, he’s still frustrated with how long the healing process is taking, so he continues to work through it with minimal whining…!!! ;):)

Yea, $100/mo. is a sizable hit. We never set ours too high, even when none of us were home during the week, ‘cause then the AC spends the rest of the night tryin’ to cool the house down, especially with 100+ degree temps, pretty much every day, this time of year.

Speaking of 100+ degree temps…
We got up to 103 today, and it’s currently 98 with a real feel of 103.
And check out the predicted highs for the next nine days…!!!!! :hilarious:

ETA…
So, that means today was our 27th consecutive day of 100+ degree heat, which tied the record from 2011, which we’ll obviously be breaking…!!!!! 🤣
