Very true. The airline doesn't get great reviews to be honest but I will probably pass. They don't even have an option to scan a boarding pass 😭. Resulting in what some people say hours wait at the terminal check in. Norse Airways sounds promising but seems the execution isn't there for customer service.

All kidding aside, I'm floored by the extremely high temps down there, for such a long time now. I assume you must spend most of your time indoors, which might be frustrating after a while. Hoping for a lower temperature break for you guys down there.

Yep, it’s hot, but, it’s always hot here in the summer, and we’ve been acclimated to it since we moved back here in ‘76.
Our hottest day this year, so far, was 109. Still not as hot as our record setting temp of 112 in both ‘00 and ‘11.
But, yes, it’s always fun in the heat of the day to hafta’ wait about a minute after ya’ open your car door for the heat to dissipate before ya’ get in so ya’ don’t scorch your lungs…!!!!! :hilarious:
Still, for us anyway, we’ll take the heat of the south/southwest over the cold of the north/northeast. Plus, my car doesn’t slip and slide on heat…!!! ;):)
Also, as I’ve mentioned before, Carolyn has lived in North Dakota (where she was born), Montana, and Wyoming when her father was in the Air Force, and wants as little as possible to do with cold weather anymore…!!!!! :coldfeet::cold::hilarious:

You said your car doesn't slip and slide with the heat but are there frequent pavement buckling because of the heat? It seems like if the weather gets to be in the high 90's or more around here there are stories of pavement buckling on roadways. Just wondering if perhaps something is done to your pavement to prevent that.

I don’t know if they treat it differently down here, but, I’m not seeing buckling pavement/asphalt, even in the dead heat of summer. So, maybe they do treat it differently…I’m just not sure…? 🤷‍♂️

I don't know of any roads that buckle due to heat, but they do that up north due to cold. When water under the highway freezes and pushes the surface above upward. That is how we ended up with so many pot holes. The road rises and breaks up and eventually, through traffic the high part is carried away leaving a hole where the pavement used to be. However, it is true that ice and snow makes you slip and slide. Heat just wears tires faster. It's almost news worthy to see any pot holes down hear unless it is an old road that hasn't ever been repaved.

Yeah the freezing/thawing causes potholes but extreme heat from expansion can cause buckling. Here is a news story from the Madison area of Wisconsin from 2002 about buckling because of the heat. We haven't had any news worthy buckles this year, at

In my area of Wisconsin we haven't had a lot of extreme heat so I haven't heard much about buckling but our temps are supposed to get up near the high 90's later this week so perhaps there will be more then (although I hope not). It can be super dangerous if it happens on the freeway with the cars traveling at high speeds.
