She's fabulous!!!!!!!! She's a vocal coach and only does the chorus for the middle and high school. I'm lucky to live in a good school district!

Nothing could be truer. We didn't have kids yet when we bought this house but I only looked at homes in towns that had excellent schools with sound budgets.

Our state the majority of funding for areas like mine is 90% from property taxes. Unfortunately when almost every house lost a good chunk of value during the recession. Property values still have not come close to completely rebounding their values. As a result the assessed value of the homes dropped as did the property tax for governmental bodies including the schools. Some of the best school districts in our state that have always balanced their budgets are struggling still.

I'm so glad you are getting the rain you need. It's rained again today...the weather person today says we have had only 2 days with sun shine in May. We live in a high desert. What's going on here. I've been diagnosed with SAD, seasonal affective disorder. If my posts take a down turn, or sound off. Just ignore, means I need more meds. Doctor says it's common the older you get. Don't produce the serotonin we used to. Usually chocolate helps...but at this stage I'm beyond help.:(;) Really I'm doing okay, but it's beginning to be a struggle. My sleeping pattern is really messed up. But, I'm blackfoot, I'll survive. I hope I didn't take all down the wrong road. It is what it is. Meds help, not 100%. If this post disappears, know hubby was not happy....:cautious:

Your post is perfectly fine to me. :)

So sorry to hear you are going through all that.
I don't have a problem with SAD, but, I've been dealing with sleep issues for many years now myself. Funny, 'cause when I was young, I slept like a stone. All the activity from my younger years, I'm sure. Which is the Lords way of telling me I still need to remain active. ;)
I recently started taking a melatonin supplement, which has helped, and I'm also learning to shut my mind off better at night by simply realizing I need more rest to be ready for the next day.
Silly creatures, us humans. :)

Now I feel bad

Was driving home this evening. My mom has been teaching me how to handle her car and so I was driving it and she was in the passenger seat. I was coming up our street, brights on and slowly so as not to hit a deer. All of the sudden, a baby fox jumps out in front of the car. Couldn't brake in time and ended up hitting and killing it. :(

Absolutely nothing I could have done. I didn't see it, nor did my mother, until it was right in front of us. But that isn't stopping me from feeling terrible about it.

Yep, same here. We chose for the schools for our future kiddos, and we also chose a home on a dead end street with low traffic for a bit more safety for them.
And, property values are nutso here, again. Both a good and bad thing.

Sympathy "like".
I've been fortunate enough to have never run over anyone's pet over all these years, but, I've run over plenty of other creatures that just darted out, especially along the old country back road portion of my office commute. No fun, but, it happens from time to time with all those critters out there.

In four years of driving, this is the first time I've hit anything, and I drive back roads all the time. So vigilant about not hitting anything. And then I saw it was a baby and felt terrible. :(

At first I thought it was a cat I had hit. Though I still felt bad, I would have had a conniption had it been a cat

I must get some vitamin D, I've never heard of that. I love this thread so much, everyone is understanding, and is helpful. Thanks a bunch. I'm sure my hubby would thank you too, but I can't say too much about my posting. ;):D

I buy a big jar of Vit. D in gummy form from Walmart. They are quite tasty. It's funny though because I never had the problem of low "D" until I moved to NC. I am now out in the sunshine all the time playing golf and going to grandkids ball games and yet it is lower here then it was in Vermont. Vermont get's about 12 days (exaggeration) of sunshine per year and most of that we are bundled up so heavily against the cold that the sun doesn't get through. I wish there was a way to get Vit. D from the glow of a computer monitor cause I personally would never need another day in the sunshine.

There are special lamps for Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Again, so very sorry. It's no fun. But, with as much life as you have ahead of you, it probably won't be the last time, either. It happens.

And the value of things. The other day at school I was supervising students outside (a little free time...don't call it recess to middle school kids!) and I had kids playing catch with one of the kids iphone 6's. It was actually playing catch, and it was the owner of the phones idea! They didn't see the problem with it at all, because if it broke they said their parents would buy them a new one!!!

My DD theorized that one of her friends would deliberately break her phone so she could get a new one. Many per year, many. Her Dad owns many McDonalds.
