Do you use a smoker? Or is this all done in an oven?

The meat was done in a smoker, the beans are from scratch (dried beans, soaked, cooked for a bit and then baked for 6 hours)

No wonder it took 48 hours! Lots of work. All that work, and the food vanishes in under 60 minutes haha!

Woke up this morning and had to go buy some extra newspapers - my store was on the front page! (Strangely, it was an article about Goodwill moving their records from in-store to online at higher prices.)

Btw I plopped 4 papers down on the counter…and it was almost $20!

Fireworks

Only a few loud booms in my area last night. I'm thinking that the nutcases that used to set off a lot of these in the past (at all hours), have moved away. YES!!!

We had quite a few people on our street lighting off fireworks. Baxter was concerned but not scared and Kapono didn’t really care. So I wasn’t too bothered by it, they stopped around 10pm.

That's great that your dogs weren't affected. Every dog I've had was freaked out by them.

Ours went until after 1 and DH had to work. I haven’t heard that many in years. We were completely surrounded. It started getting smoky from all of them.

I think Baxter had the possibility of freaking out, but he looked to Kapono and since she was calm I think he figured he was safe. He would perk up at some big ones. I'm glad he and Kapono were relaxed, my sister-in-law has to give her dogs relaxer "treats", they tried special blankets but only the meds work to calm them.

I had the windows open upstairs in our bedroom and when I went to bed there was definitely a lingering fireworks smell.
