That must have been scary.
I read just a year or two ago that the school where I did my student teaching had had to be evacuated because a student had planned to shoot fellow students and had shown the gun he brought to a friend. The friend was super brave and told a teacher and they were able to get the gun before anything happened, but it must have been terrifying for those kids to be evacuated. This was in a junior high, so the oldest kids were only 14. I'd forgotten that incident until just now. And just a couple of weeks ago, they had a delayed start at the high school where my brother lives because of a threat... A student apparently threatened that he was going to shoot people this day, but they did a search and didn't find a gun or anything. They said it may have been a hoax.
It was scary considering I didn't know what gym Floor that fire happen and I was still recovering from the hip injury. I mentioned Gym floor because Gym at the high school I went to had more than 1 location in the school building. The school lucked out in terms of damage.

I had scarier moments. though like I almost drowned during a field trip when I was in 2nd grade.

So glad he's feeling a bit better, though it's got to be very frustrating for him to not be as mobile as he'd like or is used to. I looked up the Gaylord and only came up with a town in Michigan, and a person who is overly happy or something? So I finally googled "What is a gaylord" and it came up with pictures of crates. So I figured that's what it was, but thank you for the confirmation. I've never heard them called that before!

Wish him a speedy recovery!

Thank you…!!! :)
Yep, he’s feelin’ better, but, definitely frustrated about the immobility. I know that feeling from when I split that calcaneus bone when I was 13. Since I opted out of the surgery, they had to smash it all back together by hand, and then casted my entire leg from my groin to my toes with my foot pointed down as far as they could get it, to keep it all together. They sent Pop out to the waiting room before they started the smashing. He said everyone in the waiting room went silent when I started screaming, and until I stopped a few minutes later…!!!!! :hilarious:
Also, the orthopedist (who was in his mid 60’s) said he never studied about a break like that in med school, and had never seen anything like it in his life. I was in that particular cast situation for 2 solid months (and other casts for 2 months beyond that), was on crutches, and kept stubbing my big toe almost everywhere I went, because of how far down my foot was pointed…!!!!! 🤣 I was also laid up much longer and missed the first 2 weeks of my freshman year. Needless to say, in retrospect, I should have, obviously, opted for the surgery…!!!!! 😅
I never heard of a gaylord before either, until Matthew went to work at Goodwill.
Anyway, thanks again…!!! :)

PS: I passed along your speedy recovery wishes to him and he said “Who…?”, but he appreciated the sentiment…!!!!! :hilarious:;)
