Thought I'd only watch a few minutes of the MECUM (Glendale, AZ) auction last night, but . . . :hilarious:

Fyi: (Today's & Saturday's coverage -- MotorTrend Channel, 3-6 PM, and 6-9 PM, (all EDST).

A few caught my attention last night:

1971 Chevy Nova SS (which retailed around $2,400 in 71), sold for $49,000

1966 Chevy Corvette (with split rear window!! ) (retailed around $4,200 in 66), sold for $90,000

These 2 Dodges ** below, surprised me:

2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon -- (different color for each) went for $157,500 and $165,000

(** Question: At a top speed of 211 mph, where the heck could anyone drive that fast?! Because I did not need a car that fast to drive to the grocery store, I decided not to buy one. :p )

They stopped equipping the Nova SS with the 396c.i. big block in ‘70, and took it down to the 350c.i. small block for ‘71, so that’s probably one of the reasons it only went for 49K.

Back in the day (about 1983…? 🤔) a friend of mine had the opportunity to purchase a ‘67 split window Vette. It was in restored condition, and had a 327c.i. small block with fuelie heads. The seller wanted 12K even for it. He just couldn’t come up with the funds or the credit.
‘67 was also the last year of that body style.

Yep, it has been announced that those newer Chrysler super cars, like the Demon and Hellcat, are being discontinued (allegedly :cautious::cool:;)) soon, so they’re commanding really high price numbers.

The fastest I’ve ever driven was 135 mph. It was in my ‘85 Mustang GT, and it was on a straight open highway…I wanted to go faster, but, the cars legs were stretched to the max…!!!!! :hilarious:

You know, that's what I say...she insists he wasn't like this when they were dating and that no one warned her.
That is not the case with my parents. Out of anything, people thought my parents would only be married for 3 years due to the big differences in personality between my parents.

My parents are still married to this day. Mom brought the best out of my dad. Dad also was good for my mom. My dad was either 18 or 19 years old when he first met my mom and got married in his early 20s.

Mom knew what she is getting into. Mom know dad for over a year before they got married despite dating for 3 months. Dad is a what you see is what you get. Mom saw the best and the worst out of him at the time before she got married to my dad.

I am not going into details here.

My dad is extremely...eccentric. And it's getting worse with age. Some of these eccentricities you don't find out about unless you live with him. Heck, I even told one of my mom's best friends who's probably known them for around 30 years or so that my dad is eccentric and she said, "Really? I don't see that about your dad." I'm like, uh...🤣.

Apparently, my dad was much sweeter when he was dating my mom. I would not describe my dad as "sweet". He wrote her love notes and stuff when they were dating. Now...yeah, he's not particularly romantic.

But they do love each other. One of the reasons my dad had to get an unlimited cell phone plan is because he calls my mom from the car on his way home from work and talks to her the entire way home. He only works 20 minutes from home, but he talks to her the entire way home. They don't like being apart overnight from one another. There's only been twice in their marriage where they've been apart overnight; once before I was born when my mom was on a business trip, and then when my grandfather died and we were all in WDW and my dad had to go home for three days. And she thinks he's funny when he's really...not. 🤣
