Had one final observation about the auction proceedings.

After watching it (intermittently) last week, it dawned on me the unique importance of the employees in the bidders' sections, Not only did they signal (and yell out) the bids immediately to the (caller/auctioneer at the podium), but there was more to it than that. Did you notice -- that they seem to be employed for their skill in ramping up the excitement of individual bidders (especially the bidders with deeper pockets)? In a few instances that I saw, it appeared that their "encouragement" seemed to temp bidders to bid higher. (IMO, there's a lot more to these auctions than what initially meets the eye.) ;)

I went to the dark side.

I needed another tablet because my Surface is getting old and I need something I can more easily read textbooks on. I decided not to get another Surface because I use the Surface pens on my laptop and for accounting, I really need the higher RAM on my laptop, plus it's not like I'm lugging the laptop around a college campus. But just for reading, I did need a tablet, and I decided on an 8 inch tablet became owning a larger tablet was not comfortable.

So I researched and researched and came to the unfortunate conclusion that the only other decent tablet maker is Apple. 😭😭😭 Why oh why!

At least on the iPad mini they got rid of the lightning port, which I have my own special hatred for, and switched to USB-C. Which honestly was probably the tipping point because USB-C is the holy grail of ports.

Don't think this means I'll be switching to iPhone, though. You can pry my Samsung from my cold, dead, hands...
Welcome to the dark side!! I just updated my iPhone to a 14 from an 8! I love it! I have a Mac so it’s easier to have both Apple products.😇

Ugh, I can NOT use apple. I had an imac in my classroom when I was teaching and that thing was so hard to figure out how to do ANYTHING. So not user friendly or intuitive! I was lost. I've only used Microsoft/android products since then.

Still too cold!!!!! Stay safe, warm and inside my friend
I got up at around 6:30am and the temperature was 26 degrees, nearly 40 now. I was watching the local weather this morning and heard that we had snow on the ground at the airport yesterday morning. I live less than a mile (as the crow flies) from RDU airport and that was the first I heard about it. I guess I just didn't look out the window yesterday morning. I did go out to the store around 10am and there was no indication of anything except my car was wet which I figured was from the rain the previous evening. Imagine my surprise.

I phones are still poop 😉
I got my I-8 shortly after they came out in 2017. I have replaced the battery once, but nothing else at all.

Disclaimer: I only use it for actual phone calls or texts. A whole bunch of unwanted e-mails show up on it daily, but nothing else, no streaming of anything. I am one of those old people that still uses my phone as a (um) phone. With my occasional now, walks in the mall it totally amazes me that the Apple store has, at any given time, more people in it than the total of the rest of the mall.

I noticed that interaction, as well, and paid even closer attention after they interviewed the auctioneer known as “The Hat”, during his break.
That Mopar collection alone went for a total of over $6.2 million. “The Hat” made it sound like Mecum made out very well during the week themselves…!!! :)

Apparently most actors from the galactic starcruiser are jumping ship lmao.

With rumours of it not even filling 40% in the latest months..
And that Cheapek wanted to cost cuts even more.

There are other rumours saying that Iger and Co.... they might just transform it into a dinner show similar to Spirit of Aloha, etc.. with a duration of 4 hours.

Yea, it was pretty obvious from day 1 of conception that that “experience” wasn’t going to be sustainable long-term.
Ya’ never know unless ya’ try, I guess, but, what a waste.

I've owned iPods before; I just really prefer Android, but it's gonna be a cold day in hell before I ever go to a Mac...🤣
