Just to clarify, we just needed a bit of movement and some haggling to get the price to a more reasonable level.
For example, when we got out of the cruise. The new terminal was still under construction. So we had to be moved via bus to the convention center.
The convention was obviously packed by tour companies, taxis, etc..
And as usual they instantly starting getting very close to offer their services.
Funnily the more we walked away, the faster the prices dropped. 70 became 60, then 50, then 45.
Was about to order an uber a bit farther from the "commotion" area and we got the price down to 35 USD from 70 from a taxi driver.
Now the hilarity..
We had a ton of bags..
And weirdly, every single taxi that opened the back hatch.... they all had a darn giant music speaker (those used for events).
Apparently this is normal for Panamanians for parties..etc..
They had to remove the speaker.. and the taxi driver we were, tried to give the speaker to another taxi (the one who lowered the price to 35) to safekeeping. He refused claiming he needed the space for tourists.
So the front seat was occupied by an oversized speaker
