Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
You get it...so many homes are two or three stories or more, I keep saying to my husband, where are old people supposed to live. Not ready for a nursing home yet.:D:eek:

I have full flights of stairs in my old home. In my dreams I am ready for a condo with an elevator, if the planets align correctly it will have a nice sized balcony too. And a cleaning person if I am dreaming big.

I love to watch bowling, I go and watch the grandkids it looks like so much fun. I took a semester of bowling in high school, I was never any good. And I loved watching all those bowling shows on TV, what ever happened to those. They don't show them any more.

Bowling alleys are making a strong comeback. They are building very nice ones into gaming facilities. They have just taken on a new look and a more social tone over a sport.

Here is the newest one in Northern IL.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Depends.

Who is the Alpha in the household? His goal is to Pi$$ ya off and he seems to be winning. Curious. What role does the husband have in the household? I am so surprised he has not flattened him for speaking to his Mother and his Wife like this on a regular basis. Seems he could end it once and for all. I admire your BF/SIL, she ended the cycle of abuse and stopped being your brothers enabler. That took courage. We've all been there at some point in our life, with someone. It is hard but at some point the trigger needs to be pulled. It is sad to watch you live a life of being Pi$$ off all the time with no plan of attack besides praying he will move. Since he seems to be getting everything he needs doesn't seem likely he will depart. Makes me sad to see you being abused all the time. :(
You mis-read my post.
I TOLD my son to pi$$ off. Could just as easily have been eff off, but I'm a lady.

I am hardly being abused. He's a mouthy little twerp who irks me occasionally. He is not my abuser.
One word from me, one nod of my head, one crook of my outrageously long finger ... and Hubby will gladly flatten any or all of them.

In case you haven't figured it out, let me clarify - I am 100% the alpha dog in this house. Avery recognized it immediately and named me such.

When I've had enough, Son #1 will know it, because he won't live here anymore. God has gifted me with an abundance of patience, empathy, and love. I won't apologize for that.

Maybe I should stop posting personal things. You clearly see me as a snivelling beaten woman, cowering in the corner. I'm not. Not by a long shot.

definitely envious, I only have like 10 mugs (collectible ones)
Most of them are of Musicals (like phantom of the opera, CATS, Joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat) and 2 of Disney.
I fear buying Mugs and having them in my bags in an International trip might just.. destroy them.
We pack them in our suitcase securely between our clothes after Disney wrap them in lots of tissue paper.

believe it or not, I had broken stuff when protected like that.
Im my last trip, I used one of the very strong boxes of my Nikon camera to carry all the sensible stuff.
All the other stuff (camera gear and surface pro 3) was always with me.

I dont trust airliners after they destroyed my friends "hardcase"(these gorilla like military grade box airlinecases)
and worse. they refused to pay for it.

@seahawk7 , I see you're on the forum now, so I jumped here first, before I read the other posts. Just for the heck of it, I was browsing the QS options at WDW, to see what kind of vegetarian options they had, because I know you like vegetarian food. (I also know you've already made your TS reservations for dinner, but wasn't sure if you had also looked at some of the QS menus.) What surprised me were some fairly new options in the QS menus, from when I was there last year. These are only a few random ones I picked out; I'm sharing these more because of the newer variations they seem to be adding to the QS menus. Again, just a few below --

ABC Commissary $7.29
Couscous Quinoa & Arugula Salad == Tossed-to-order

Beach Club Marketplace $9.29
Quinoa Vegetable Wrap with Roasted Vegetable, Hummus and Goat Cheese served with choice of Side Salad or House-made Chips

Boardwalk Bakery $9:49
Fresh Mozzarella with Oven-dried Tomatoes, Arugula and Herb Aïoli on Focaccia served with Cucumber Salad or Chips

Cosmic Ray's $10.29
Vegetable Sandwich with choice of Apple Slices, Green Beans, or French Fries

Pizzafari $9.69
Vegetable Pizza a Cheese Pizza-for-one, Freshly Baked and topped with delicious helpings of Chopped Onions, Portobello Mushrooms, Tomatoes and Red and Green Peppers served with a side Caesar Salad

Thank you for thinking of me! I knew about some of those but not all. I really appreciate you finding those and I'm going to definitely try some of them. I just booked the Rebel Hangar, it's a TS modeled after the bar in Star Wars. I've been trying for a week at least three times a day and I finally got one!
I'm so darn excited, I'm running around the unit telling all the nurses and doctors.

My folks joined a bowling league when we moved to Alabama in '66, and they continued on with it for a bit after we moved to No Cal in '68. Then, dad coached all of us in Little League Baseball. We moved back to Texas, and more baseball, soccer, and then softball coaching' for our younger sis, although mom joined and played in a local bowling league for several years. Now, pop has bowling once a week for several years. :)

And yes, I do remember watching those tournaments on the major networks, on the weekends, from time to time. :)

Up in the Northeast, candlepin bowling ruled. I think in most other areas of the country, they used the larger sized bowling balls, so I assume that's what you were familiar with.

Here's an interesting article (from USA Today, a few days ago) on the current state of bowling, and how it's changing --http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2015/05/10/bowling-final-frames-roll/27070351/

Oh, that's great! Glad you got the reservation you wanted. As for the QS locations, those were just a few random ones only; my guess is that many of the QS now have better vegetarian offerings, than even just a few years ago.

I was actually more intrigued that they finally started getting a little more creative. Although I'm basically a meat/fish fan, I might have a veggie option 1-2 times a week, for variety. Whenever I go to Disney, I never really know what I want to eat until I know how I'm feeling. Sometimes the heat really gets to me, so I might prefer a lighter meal, which usually means a veggie option. So, I'm glad that there are many different meals to choose from now. My only complaint is how much they've jacked up the prices.

Yes I agree. Some things are more reasonable than others and you get more for your money. That's why I love Earl of Sandwich which we go to a lot at WDW. You can't beat it.

Oh my . . . that's awful. It's beyond my comprehension how things could get broken in your suitcase if you had properly cushioned them with clothing, etc. (I'm sure you did a fine job with that.) What I mean to say is I can't believe how roughly they must have treated your suitcase in the airports. I was also astonished to read that your friend's hard-size suitcase was damaged as well. Yikes.
