Eh, don't dump your dentist. Wisdom teeth may not be an issue (ever), or they may cause you issues in the future. That's what many dentists (based on whatever data they use) will tell you. (If he's been a good dentist overall, I wouldn't let him go, just yet.) There's (various) reasons for removing those teeth. I had mine out in my early 20s, and it was easy, as they were only impacted in tissue, not bone. Had a funny reaction to waking up from the anesthesia -- I was so looney, and telling everyone in the dental office that I loved them and crying my eyes out! :joyfull: :hilarious:

Yep, in my early 20’s, our dentist at the time told me I needed to have them taken out soon, before I woke up one mornin’ feelin’ like someone had taken a baseball bat to my jaw.
I’ll be 60 in October, so…

Having children in their generation every kid I knew was told to remove wisdom teeth. Much like when I was a child and medical doc’s wanted to remove every child’ tonsil so the same. Yes some needed. Still…

I'm sorry, I lol'ed at your story.

My dentist was pushing me to go see an oral surgeon because my wisdom teeth might possibly cause a problem in the future. I looked at him and was like, "But are they currently causing a problem?" He admitted they were not, but tried to tell me not getting them out could cause cancer. I was like...a quick Google search confirms that is not the case. He tried again the last time and I was like, "I'm 26 and I've had three surgeries (now four!). Unless you can explain why this is necessary, I'm not having another surgery." He could not.

I've been thinking of finding another dentist.
Find another dentist IMO. SCARE factor of wisdom teeth causing cancer. Oy. You need to trust Docs. Auto removal of wisdom teeth is a newish thing like tonsils of my generation. Tonsils actually have a great purpose unless they are problematic as wisdom teeth could be in a select group. Id never selectively have my appendix removed either cause it could someday go south.
