That's actually cheap, compared to the prices now. (Read something recently that the prices might start to lower by June, but that's going to be "down" from much "higher" than $20 now. I saw one restaurant ad last fall, that priced lobster rolls at $36.00. Individual restaurants may vary, but that price wasn't out of the ordinary at that time). Industry prices ebb and flow every year, as it is. Yet, there was a surge in demand over the past year, and some labor shortages, which further affected outcomes.I was at an airport and a lobster roll was close to $20 each? That's about $5-6 a bite.
I never even tried Lobster until President Regan fired all the air traffic controllers and the Lobster suppliers couldn't get them on planes to the rest of the country. That was sometime in the 1980's. At that point a complete Lobster dinner in Wells Beach, Maine was less than $5.00. I didn't know if I'd like Lobster or not, but I figured that was a good time to try one while they were cheap. Even the MacDonald's Rte. 1 in Wells Breach sold Lobster Rolls. That's actually cheap, compared to the prices now. Wow that amazing. I still recall when I vacationed in Montego Bay Jamaica , I was lying on the beach soaking in the sun when I saw two young boys with a spear. They both dove into the crystal clear blue water . About 30 min later they were both trying to sell the still alive lobster on the beach to interested customers . That's about as fresh, lobster can get. In Jamaica , the locals do cater to tourists and are willing to sell many various items to earn money. That's actually cheap, compared to the prices now. Never saw a shark swim next to me in the Pacific. Had a seal and a sea turtle pop up right next to me, not at the same time.
They were peasant food because they were so plentiful. At times they were stacked up on the shore. It was prison food until the inmates finally either threatened to riot or did because they were feeding them three meals a week. It just shows you just how powerful a good PR department can be.

No sooner than getting in the minivan to take us to the hotel from the airport , the driver asked all in the van if anything we need just let him know. The couple in the same van asked for the herb , and the transaction was discreet and quick, service with a smile. I was still feeling the effects of the first time I went to Jamaica the first day , free shots of Appleton Rum at the airport for Appleton Estates train ride promotion , all u can drink rum train ride special and tour the place where the rum is made. I think enjoying the herb would be more mellow than a wild drunken train ride and rum factory tour.Been to Montego Bay twice. Not that it would be a problem for us, but, we were told not to buy any pot, etc., from the locals, as they were likely in cahoots with the local authorities…they would set you up and then split the bail money.
Not sure how true that may be, but, that’s what we were told.

Ooooff , drunk on rum, boat rocking on the water, that’s me getting very seasick. Been there being seasick on the water , the world was spinning so fast…Yep, definitely familiar with Appleton Estate rum. We were in Montego Bay on our second and third cruises. On the second one, we did a catamaran snorkeling excursion. All the Appleton Rum you cared to drink, but, only after the snorkeling, of course. I had a nice buzz after that one, for sure.
And, it’s just plain good rum…!!!!!
We, actually, almost did the Appleton Estate tour/excursion.
Below is a pic of our cat…!!!
