From my recollection, I think the Disney parks have always displayed the flag, and it's part of their tradition. Actually, they even have the flag ceremony every day at MK, near the train station. They invite a veteran (a guest at the park that day) to join them. It's very nice to see. (One day, I was near City Hall in the MK, and happened to arrive just at the time while they were doing this. So that's how I saw it, and it was pleasant.)
Yep, the flag references are in a lot of shows as well. Like Muppets and Mr. Eagle's "A salute to America"...

In other news, a new rant.. this time to automated AI based "moderating" stuff.
I've seen the rise of these things and are woefully inaccurate that can't handle the small details of the varying ways languages can be written to express different things.

For example. I put a review where a cable I was sold on Amazon was only working partially (aka 1 port works, not the two it's supposed to do ). Apparently the owner reported it and the AI automatically deleted it claiming it was "against" the rules.
There were no insults, no addresses, nothing out of the ordinary for a normal standard review.
And yet, it was flagged claiming it was against the Amazon rules based on "possible contact information, information not related to the product" and other things. I was flabbergasted. :banghead:

Note that normally you could (before) put a dispute so an human would review this.
But they apparently have removed this button option(on the MX amazon site at least ). So you have to SUCK IT if the moderating thing got it wrong.

Similarly on how many times my comments on facebook has got me suspended for random stuff that makes zero sense while blatant (even racists) comments against me are put aside for "not breaking community standards". I notice the cynicism of Facebook automated alerts that you're suspended and claiming they are offering "unbiased moderating".

The only good changes that have been happening on facebook side is that they now have a third party review board. But facebook is making it harder and harder to make them review the content. (aka the last time I got suspended, I only got the notification on the phone, and when requesting access, it does not fill the form automatically..and if you close the screen on your phone to get the report ID. You can no longer report it to the third party board. :bored:

But yes.. more and more companies are inserting AI to everything even in things AI should never work properly.
While at the same time failing monumentally to stop what its supposed to stop .( Facebook groups being completely filled with crypto fake accounts boasting fake agents and how amazing the investments were). Ironically, manual reports to these clear bots also fail with "this comment does not go against the community".

And yes, the "disagree with decision" button does nothing lmao. They do not re-review at all.

I'm just in one of those self pity moods today, so I thought I would share this so everyone will understand just how freaking old I am. It a little long, but depressing for people like me whose brain still insists that I am still in my 20's.

Everyone ages. I looked at some of that stuff and laughed, and was actually happy that there have been some improvements. Other things, I admit I miss. But I don't find any of it depressing at all -- just the natural evolution of life over the years. Not to worry -- you're still cool!

but James knows what most of that stuff is. Heck he even has a few of those items including a game system that did play on channel 3 on his first tv and the alarm clock. I would have thought that dish rack was cool at 15

Don't feel bad. I am showing my age in some ways already. I remembered cable being installed in my parents house when I was a kid. My parents also had Betamax. Woolworths and Zayre were a couple of the stores my parents went to and I recalled going there besides Radio shack.

The Transformers Toyline got its start back in 1984 and I started getting Transformers back in 1984. This was when Michael Bay was in college and Michael Bay had nothing to do with Transformers.

I saw the Transformers animated movie in 1986 with my dad. That toyline in my era had robots transforming into different things such as Dinosaurs, planes, tanks, guns, helicopters, cars, semi, boom box, cassette player, cassette tapes, microscope, vans, space shuttle, rocket, ambulances and insects.

I still use alarm clock to this day;).

I still have a couple game systems that use channel 3. I still have my Atari 7800 and Intellivision 2. My parents got a rid of the Atari 2600 Jr.:(, but not the games. My younger brother now has a Atari computer that uses channel 3 and he got it off ebay back in 2017 or 2018.
