So, yesterday was interesting. Was walking around the local nature area, and about 80 feet off in the distance I stopped short -- saw a large wolf (doing his scent marking routine). Unfortunately, he was right at the beginning of a dirt trail (although still covered in snow) that I sometimes use. Nope, nope, nope -- I backed away very slowly, and kept looking over my shoulde as I retreated.. Luckily, he had other things to attend to, and either did not seem me, or decided I posed no risk as I left. (
Mating season for wolves, and also coyotes up here is late Jan. through mid-March. They can all be especially whack-a-doodles during this time.)
