Well this year it is going to be worse we are told. Where we live in Northern IL The Utility company invested mega bucks to one bring it into 21st Century and vastly improves reliability and efficiency. But you are correct. In areas that have failed to improve their grids the cost would likely be OUCH!

I lived in my house for 30 years and the first 20 years my January bill went up between $100 to $150 a month. When the improvements were complete the January bill more than half less. We also invested in new LED lightbulbs and light strings for Christmas which also added to major savings after the grid was fixed. We had so many lights for Christmas 🤶. Loved it.
I wonder, going solar is cost effective? we get a ton of sun where I live and it is.

I was wondering that, too, but do they have solar Christmas lights? We have some solar sidewalk torches, and next year, we're getting solar panels to reduce our electricity costs....whatever we produce ourselves, we don't pay for, and if we produce extra, it goes into the "pool" for others to use, and we get reimbursed at least partially. They are trying to make homes here much more energy efficient, and a lot cleaner energy usage....by 2030 I think all new homes have to be off gas or something? Not sure about stoves...I think they are wanting to move towards induction, but I really don't want to do that. My in-laws have induction and the pans are too heavy for my weak wrists. I can't lift them with one hand to strain excess liquid, or to pour from one pan to another....and I'm not quite 45. I can't imagine elderly people with less muscle mass or osteoporosis, etc trying to use those. For the most part, I'm glad they are moving towards the solar power and other clean energy sources, but they HAVE to come up with a better alternative with the cooking.

You go woman! Both my kids in same month bought houses this summer. Furniture, light fixtures etc were all I assembled. Only sofas I believe were delivered intact and my DD washer dryer which she picked out and delivered installed in less than a week. Everything else was new, never used. (Guy was dead 3 years.)

My DD and son like you, a fan of online shopping especially now trying to find items in stock. The only thing she an issue with was the king padded and tall headboard off the front porch and in house. Amazon even sent a different type truck and 2 drivers. Beyond heavy.
I still live with my parents actually, and the chairs are theirs, but after watching Dad try to put them together, I took over. 😂

Why does that not surprise me. When I saw assembly was required I pictured abstract art and/or a trip to the ER
Dad is really, really bad at assembling anything. It was painful just watching him take the things out of the box. 😂 Mom is good at it but she was busy. We did the last chair together because it was a problem child, but the other three I did.

So I have a 40% of Kohls and $5 dollars from my birthday and it's burning a hole in my pocket so I'm on the website and saw a blast from the past.

Edit: I should specify the shirt that was a tv show and not the guy.

There is a reboot going on btw.
Not sure if you have been watching the new run of Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego

Funnily.. I grew up with the game back in the early 90's.

It is 45 outside and cold. Brrr! That is all.

34 this morning. Needless to say the dog and I are not enjoying porch time this morning. It is supposed to get to 63 today, so maybe later.

I woke up and started cooking to warm the house up;)
OMG, this is so interesting and expected! All we heard all summer was "it is so hot" and the first day that it get cooler, the moaning starts. Human nature I guess. I understand that Hawaii has a normal 70 degree temperature year round. Maybe we can make a mass exodus there where all we have to worry about are tsunami's and lava flows. ;):cold:🥶

Just kidding... I know you aren't really complaining. It's just an attempt to drown out @MinnieM123 screaming with unmedicated joy.
