@Tony the Tigger ,
You are a business owner.
Do you have an opinion on healthy able bodied people just month after month collecting unemployment payouts while all around them are employers who are short staffed and desperate to hire them?
Is there a better thread on wdwmagic for us to discuss this? If "Yes", WHAT IS that better thread? ( @The Mom )
Perhaps it should not be discussed on a Disney forum at all. I confused your post with another that was venting about mask usage.
There are many websites that allow political/social issues to be discussed. Covid is allowed only because it directly affects people visiting WDW. The lack of workers also indirectly affects people who are WDW visitors, so it might be better discussed relating specifically to the parks/resorts.

Speaking of which, is Disney also having problems with staffing?
I mean, its something I would have never imagined Disney having problems of. They were always a revolving door. thousands lining up for a job.

Off the top of my head, I would say no, it doesn't seem like it. Their hours seem to be normal, it seems like they have enough staffing, and they have people willing to work there.

It's fairly obvious at other places that are short staffed. Hersheypark for instance has reduced hours and a lot of ride/food place closures. They don't operate year round like Disney, so their workforce is primarily retirees, students, and international workers. Well, because of border closures, they just plain didn't get the international workers this year. And then from what I've seen on Facebook, a lot of people just don't want to work there because they don't need the money and they don't want to catch covid, or they don't feel like dealing with guests who are on a new level of rudeness this year.

But yeah, the international worker issue seems to be a huge problem everywhere, but Disney isn't totally dependent on them. There's other issues, but can't go into them here without getting too far into that without getting political.

Thank you, but not belated - early! 8/31

Don’t rush me! 😆
🤦‍♀️ Oops!! I had quickly glanced through your thread over in General this morning, and saw that your birthday was near--but not quite as near as I thought! You're still a spring chicken. :)

The good thing is that on your real birthday (next week), you'll get another happy birthday greeting -- so all is not lost!!! ;)

I missed my foreign British workers. Other countries too but mostly British.
