There also weren't vaccines back then.

I know how it is based on the German side. Back in late 1890s or early 1900s, my great grandma and great grandfather had to deal with the loss of 3 or 4 infants or toddlers. The infants or toddlers died of a disease that a vaccine did not exist yet.

My great great grandfather died from that pandemic. He was here in the US. His wife had died of a flu a couple of years before. My great grandmother was raised by her grandmother.

Joey finished 3rd in the Cheese Curd eating contest in 2018. The winner Darren Breeden ate 5.2 pounds of cheese curds in 6 minutes that year.

Darren Breeden in 2018, he should be having his first bowel movement since then about now.

Today is the first day of the Wisconsin State Fair. I never go on the first day of the fair. Certain days are more crowded than others.

I do know the fair canceled out the eating contests. The eating contests were Cheese curd and cream puffs before they were canceled. I do know for the first ever Cheese curd eating contest, Joey Chestnut was one of the people who entered.

I do know the Wisconsin State Fair is giving free cream puffs this year if you get vaccinated at the Wisconsin State Fair.

No WI State fair for me, too far away (4-5 hrs). I did go a couple times when I was older because my 4H Club was invited to perform. I remember the cream puffs, those were good. I probably wouldn't win a cheese curd eating contest but I'd sure like to try! HAHAHA!

My husband and I have been contemplating going to the Minnesota State Fair, it is closer (about an hour away). I've been looking at their food lists and there are a lot of new foods this year. The trouble is I don't need any of the food and I don't know if the budget can handle it this year.

I have seen so many reports from multiple news outlets, about the price of this thing. Nothing I've read so far casts the (price) in any sort of flattering light. Although there will be some who would pay it, I'm really hoping that the price goes way down. I question how sustainable such an extreme price could be.
