It's almost not an issue. There is plenty of nasty currently. At least not the norm! I was reading somewhere that the Palace of Versailles had no type of facilities at all and people, male and female, just lifted a leg (as it were) and did anything in any corner or wherever they happened to be standing. It was reported that the odor in the place was unbearable. Good times!
I went to Versailles in the early 90’s. Don’t remember much about bathroom facilities. I only remember the mirrored room and the gardens actually.

My brother and I when as young kids grew up in simple surroundings, 1 bathroom in our 2 bedroom apt to share with my parents but we all managed. When my parents bought a house, having multiple bathrooms was incredible.
Last week my son was in my shower and my youngest wanted to shower. She then had the brilliant idea of using the one in the hall. 🤣

I vaguely remembered using a bathroom when I went to Versailles so I looked on their website this morning and they do have public bathrooms now but as for when the royal family lived there I don't remember seeing any as we went through. But there are a lot of rooms closed to the public so maybe one of those was one. I think the chamber pot was probably more of a thing for the royals and people during that time.
