The Chit Chat Chit Chat Thread

I am soooo annoyed. I ordered some stuff from Amazon over the weekend. Was supposed to have the items Monday and Tuesday. Got one thing on Monday even though 3 items said they were out for delivery with USPS on Monday. At 8pm I looked at the tracking and at 7pm there was a note saying the items that hadn't been delivered weren't delivered because our driveway/front door couldn't be accessed? What? I looked at our Ring camera videos and there was no mail truck in the neighborhood since 11am when we got the one delivery. We live on a quiet street so there is not much traffic. It is a cul de sac so pretty much the neighbors of the few houses on our street. I thought, fine, it will come tomorrow with the other items. Nope! Got the same message on Tuesday evening. Tried calling the post office yesterday only to get a busy signal. They aren't taking calls apparently. Then yesterday I got Amazon items delivered that I ordered on Tuesday. So I got items overnight that I ordered but I still hadn't gotten the original from over the weekend. Then this morning I go to track and USPS tracking says they tried to deliver yesterday but couldn't. This morning it says the address isn't verifiable. WTH!!!!! And on top of that there is literally no one to contact at Amazon. They have a chat bot, stupid AI, that says if you don't get your items by July 1 they will send a replacement. Well it is July 1 and the chat bot didn't give me a link or any sort of help to get the items replaced. I know I shouldn't get upset with this, there are more important things, but gosh darn it, this is just plain ridiculous.
Ugh, that's so frustrating! I hate the chat bot! I had the same issue with an amazon-like store here. There was no number to call, and I could only access the chat bot, which basically just regurgitates the messages you already got. You say you haven't gotten your items and it will tell you when it will be delivered or why it wasn't delivered. There's no way to actually talk to a real person to explain the problem. Is there a link to complain somewhere? That's how I finally got through...I filed a complaint and then someone had to contact me to find out what happened.

My oldest was two when the second was born. I have pictures of her holding her baby sister with that same smile. It was less then a month later that she asked her mother if it was ok to throw her down the basement stairs. She asked so innocently too. After many short of sleep nights, there was a pause in our response, but we decided that wouldn't be right and told her absolutely not. ;)
My vocal Jazz director in college had a 3 year old and a new baby, and he was explaining to his 3 year old about the attic, and how it's to store things you want to keep but not use right away. The kid asked if they could keep baby brother in the attic until he was big enough to play with him.

Yah, they use a lot of different carriers up here, too. I have noticed more of the blue Amazon trucks and vans lately, however.

Our state also requires just one plate, and it has to be placed on the back of the car. (A 2nd plate is optional, for the front.) I vaguely recall when many MA cars had two (perhaps back in the 80s?), but that ship has sailed. I read somewhere that dropping down to 1 plate per car, saved the state a lot of money.
Yes the Amazon trucks are driven by third party independent companies who deliver for Amazon. Dropping to one license plate saves a state a lot of money and no longer state car inspections surely saved a lot of money too ( ie FL ). One aspect of having 2 license plates is that there could be a better chance that a witness can view the front plate also if the car is believed to be a suspicious vehicle.

I'm glad I don't have anything stickered on my front windshield ( only a registration renewal sticker on the right side of my rear license plate ), and no front license plate . That front plate ruins the aesthetics of the front grill of the vehicle. No such thing as a state inspection on my ride.
Only rear plate in PA. Where we live in PA we only have inspections and not emissions. Not highly populated. We used to have stickers on plates but they got rid of that probably cause of financial costs. Now we just print out registration at home.

When did MA switch back to one plate?

I spent a week at a house in Seaside Heights back in the summer of ‘81.
A buddy of mine, originally from the east coast that was attending UT at the time, and a bunch of his pals rented it.
Although a bit of that week is a little blurry :cautious::D;), it was one heckuva’ time...!!!!!!! :joyfull:
At one point, we ended up on a 75’ yacht in Atlantic City.
One of my buddy’s pals sisters married into a very rich family, and his BIL invited us all down to AC to cruise down to Cape May for lunch.
That yacht was crazy-cool, with the works, including a full bar...!!!
Only problem was, once we got out off the coast, the swells were so big that some of the guests (there were others besides our house group) started pukin’ over the rails...!!!!! :hilarious:
Denny (the BIL) had the Captain (there were 3 crew members) turn the boat around, and we went back to the AC marina to continue the party...I’ll definitely never forget that trip...!!!!!!! :joyfull:

Wanted to update the MA sales tax holiday information a bit here. I heard on the news a few days ago, that the Governor is suggesting that for all of August and September -- that there be a TWO-MONTH sales "holiday"!! Now, I haven't a clue if this will actually get the approvals needed, but I'm following this for any further developments. (Currently, he's getting a lot of pushback from some others, so it's tentative at best.)

I’m all for keeping the money I earned... :cautious: ;):cautious:

I could make some guesses about those pushing back, but I won't.

If memory serves, MA had a budget surplus at the start of the pandemic.

This is so funny -- both hubs and I thought the one (rear) plate was still all that was required. (As it is, we have old plates (think ours were issued back in 1997) from former cars, so we actually have 2, and just kept putting them on a newer vehicle.)

But we just did some research, and after 1993, the state went back to TWO plates! :p Apparently, after the Spirit of America designed plates were first issued in 1986, those newer styled ones began the 2-plate requirement again (stupid rule), but I guess other plate holders with the previous design were grandfathered in until 1993.

Hubs mentioned that he's never known anyone pulled over for 1 plate -- as long as the rear plate is visible and the current tag attached. He said that if a cop wanted to pull over a car for another reason, he could use the (no front plate) excuse, to do so, but again that's a stretch. (Kind of like the seat belt law -- they can use that as an excuse, but they actually have another reason for pulling over the car.) Enforcement of the two-plate requirement might also be more of a regional thing -- I read that Cambridge is stricter about those types of nuances. Glad we don't live there, but again, we have 2 plates, so I guess it's a moot point.
