Yeah...for example, for 4th of July, everyone was having a BBQ. That's what we all called it, but it was just grilling burgers and hotdogs. We use the words interchangeably, too....it's not just you.Wow, interesting. Really, never had a clue there was any difference. As far as I recall both words were used, even back when my father used to cook outdoors in the summer.
I have the whole series and we grew up reading the books and watching the TV series (which really has very little to do with the books). When my parents separated, I was only 5, and we went to live with a friend of my mom's in Gillette. She was a single woman and taught elementary school. She had a 2 bedroom house and it was really small, and it was only temporary, so we only had one bedroom to share...my mom and my brother and I. We each got to bring one toy, and mom brought the Little House books and that's what we read before bed each night. I ordered the whole book set and started reading them....I can understand her not liking the first one. It's very...young. I didn't remember it being so simple. Short sentences, very basic language....it's meant for little kids really. The later books are better. The cabin/town where Laura Ingall's family lived in Wisconsin is about 45-50 minute drive from my house. There is a little museum there, I haven't been there but driven through the town. I gave my niece the series so she could read them and then I was going to take her there but she didn't like the first book so I we never ended up going. Maybe going there might have inspired her to read the books though.
Same here in MA!!I like how it goes from 90 degree weather one day, to 50s and rain the next. Never change Maryland weather, never change.
It is odd sometimes that during the summer the heat and humidity on some days in VA is hotter than Orlando.I can't believe I'm turning the heat on at the end of May
Oh c'mon -- you're a hearty Rhode Islander -- buck up!I can't believe I'm turning the heat on at the end of May

I've visited RI and MA. Some of the older homes don't even have central AC or a few with no AC but one must buck up. Some older condos in Miami Beach don't even have heat so in that rare cold spell, get that extra blanket.Don't worry....I'll be complaining about the heat next week.
Sending warm {{HUGS}}I can't believe I'm turning the heat on at the end of May
It was hotter in the metro NYC area a week ago.It is odd sometimes that during the summer the heat and humidity on some days in VA is hotter than Orlando.
