I wasn’t allowed to take home EC in high s hook. Mom said I already knew how to bake and cook so I needed to take college prep.

I was in a science and math program and could have taken it if it fit my schedule. Our guidance counselors were basically in charge of our schedules. Parents had no say. Others in my program were able to. We were all college prep per say. I was happy that at least I got to take art class and be in the orchestra.

I got to be in Band and my last year I also got to be in choir. I didn’t really want to sing but wanted hang out with friends. My mom was fine with me taking music because that was mental enrichment.
my mom also made me take Spanish. I wanted to take French but she said I wouldn’t use French as much as Spanish. She was correct. Even though I’ve been to France I’ve also been in Spanish speaking countries more often and with this school year I have now been able to use my basic Spanish skills more. I guess moms do know what they are talking about, just wish she was around for me to tell her that.

My favorite class was the one when one of the kids in my group, took off the metal thing (older, range-top, pressure cooker style) and the cover burst open shortly after -- beef stew hit the ceiling in the cooking room!
Home-Ec was not a requirement for us in HS, but...!!!!!
