Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
We have a friend who is a traveling nurse. She works twelve on, twelve days off with covid patients in their homes. On day two of one of her off weeks she took her two daughters to a cheers competition and stayed in a hotel room with another family. They all ended up sick, along with another handful of girls from the team.
Yikes!!! 😳

My wife made her traditional New Year meal of collard greens, black eyed peas and cornbread. She also made ham, cube steak, fried potatoes and coleslaw. Plenty for lunch and soon leftovers for dinner.

she is an amazingly woman. Yum 🤤

I made a huge vat of Chicken Soup and it simmered for hours while I made Irish dumplings for the soup. I had intended to cook a fresh ham I bought along with Irish potato salad, green bean casserole, green jello and Jason Potatoes. I already ate the asparagus. This meal will now be prepared tomorrow cause after the Soup I was done with chopping

Well since that is the case, all your neighbors are "in the same (frozen) boat" as you.
What's new with your Minn. Vikings 🏈 ?

True, although our neighbors don't put up as many decorations as we do and what they do put up they hang so it is easy to remove. My hubs likes to have many figures around the yard. As for the Vikings I guess its just another year with no Super Bowl chance, pretty much the story of Minnesota sports and playoff/championships. (sigh) 😞 Looks like the Eagles aren't in the playoffs either, have you been watching much?

Self-imposed exile over, but, the break was much-needed.
Not even goin’ back...water under the bridge.
Got a bit of a scare about 3 weeks ago. On a regular checkup, Megan’s doc suspected the baby could very well have a heart defect. She was sent to a specialist, but, the specialist inquired as to why, as it was too early to tell. After a follow-up with the specialist this past Wednesday, it was a false alarm, and we were sooooo very much beyond thankful . Such a tough few weeks, memories of miracle DS’s issues, and just beyond grateful that everything is fine with baby. The specialist said she wished that every baby she saw was as healthy.
And, with all the testing, it’s another granddaughter...!!!!!!!!!!! 👍❤️🥰😊

These may, very well, be the youngest pics of a child ever posted here...!!!!!!! :joyfull::hilarious:

Welcome back! Good news about the health of your new grand daughter, I hope things continue to go well. Hope your family had a good Christmas. Have your folks moved back into their house yet?

Edit: I see in another post you mentioned they are still in their temporary digs. I hope you had a nice gathering with them.

We watched Soul last night and I think it's one of those movies where you have to watch it twice to give a full and proper opinion of it. I can say it's worth watching but still undecided where it ranks

We watched it too, I like your assessment. Hubs really liked it and I was interested but I fell asleep for the last 15 minutes, so we had to watch that again when I woke up. I think it had a good message and is thought provoking but if I had to pick which Pixar movie I like best of 2020 it would be Onward over Soul.

It was a comedy of...something.

Brian was supposed to get out of work at 6PM, pick up the pup, and meet me out west. I had already checked into the room and cleaned it (and gone back to work.)

He didn't get out of work until around 7:15. We got to the hotel at 8:30ish. I thought we'd settle in and maybe order from two places (go crazy! I guess I did "too well" finding something away from a residential area because Uber was mostly not delivering to our hotel! (It's next to one of the largest malls in the US.) Also the time was a factor. Places were closing at 9 or 10, etc. So we'd find a place on Uber Eats, carefully pick what we want, and then at the end it would say either the place was too far away, or they were closing in ten minutes. Try another place. Same thing. Why is Uber Eats even showing me places that won't deliver to where I am? Ack.

Brian, trying to save the day, shoves his phone in my face and says, "Chinese will be here in 30-40 minutes."

What? Wait, you didn't ask what I wanted? Perturbed. Also, $85. Brian said no, it wasn't supposed to be $85. He had double ordered one item, and there were like $30 in fees - service fee, delivery fee, $8.22 tip, etc. Poor half-blind mess had no idea what he was doing LOL.

Pass the Crown Vanilla. It's time.

He wanted to cancel the order, but the wait to speak to Postmates was 59 minutes. He called the restaurant directly and they had no idea what he was talking about. I started looking at alternatives.

He stayed on hold with Postmates. Then we got a message that the delivery person was here! Brian went downstairs to get it, and and I would make the best of whatever he ordered. Guess what? Nobody was there. Seriously?

By this point, Postmates answered. They tried calling the driver and it went to voicemail. So they refunded him (thank God, the order was nuts) except for the $8 tip. Really?

At this point, I hit "submit" on the Denny's order. Got an error message. AAAAH! Tried again, same error. Brian, what do you want from Burger King?

First Burger King Siri took me to was inside the closed mall. Next one was just closed. I asked for directions to 7-11. $5 pizzas it is. As I followed the directions to 7-11, I saw the Denny's! Pulled over, placed the order in person at 11:20. Expected wait time 15-20 minutes. Cutting it close to get back to the hotel.

By 11:45, Brian called wondering what had happened to me LOL. I mentioned to the employee I was really trying to get back to my family before midnight. It was 2 burgers and some nachos lol. They had only one cook.

At 11:54, they handed me my bag. GPS said I would get back to the hotel at 12:01AM. Nope, that wouldn't do.

Confession: I sped. I ignored a red left turn signal. GPS now said 12:00. As I pulled into the parking lot, Brian (still on the phone) said 1 minute to go. Just had to park and run up the stairs!

Made it to the door at exactly 12:00AM, and B had 2 "glasses" (plastic cups) of champagne ready to go.

This morning, checked my email, saw a notice that my Denny's order was ready at like 11:18. (This was from the order I placed that I thought didn't go through because of the error message!) Haven't even tried to address that yet. But I'm sure I paid twice.

We sure made an adventure out of it!

The hotel was a good move. Definitely fewer fireworks in that area, somewhat muffled by being in a hotel, and Kylie seemed unaffected. We gave her no meds - other than an anti-inflammatory. She is limping again - pretty badly, especially after walking up the stairs to the second floor. From then on, we used the elevator. She was so good. I'm very concerned about her future with all the ailments lately. But we did right by her last night! And Anderson Cooper drunk is priceless!

Sounds like a crazy adventure. Next time remember to pack some snacks! HAHA!

Sorry to hear about Kylie limping again. My Kapono, slipped on some ice in the yard and seems to have reinjured her back leg again too. My hubs has put down some pet safe salt in the back yard now. Might have to take her into the vet on Monday if it isn't better maybe they can give her a brace or maybe physical therapy again. Hope your girl heals quick!

Granted a lot of people die (or the parents do) in Disney movies but this is like the 3rd Pixar film in a row that the whole movie is about death.

I was listening to a podcast the casters were discussing Soul and Pete Docter and they were talking about all the death lately in the Pixar movies and one host said "Pete certainly has a lot of life questions and while he is finding the answers he needs, he is taking us all for a ride." Interesting perspective I suppose.

No. This year I wasn't watching much so that's why I didn't really know about the Vikings. HOCKEY starts Jan. 13th. I am looking forward to that!😉

I haven't watched much either, my husband has though. I actually had to look up what was going on with the Vikings and Eagles before I answered! Ha! I'm excited about hockey too. The other day the MN Wild shared a video of them prepping the ice in the rink and I was excited to see that. I wish we could go to a game this year but I can enjoy it at home. Home has a more comfy seat and cheaper beer! An also better beer!

Jealous, we kind of transform our house for christmas so we have to pack away a lot of stuff to put up the Christmas and put it away. Then since the spaces are empty we clean. So it takes a long time. We have about 95% of the inside stuff put away. There are some linens and rugs still out and some dishes that need to be washed. Oh and window clings. It is nice to have the house back to normal but I'm still slightly surprised not to see the trees and other Christmas stuff when I look around.

What a night you had! Poor Kylie. Prayers for her.
