It was a comedy of...something.
Brian was supposed to get out of work at 6PM, pick up the pup, and meet me out west. I had already checked into the room and cleaned it (and gone back to work.)
He didn't get out of work until around 7:15. We got to the hotel at 8:30ish. I thought we'd settle in and maybe order from two places (go crazy! I guess I did "too well" finding something away from a residential area because Uber was mostly not delivering to our hotel! (It's next to one of the largest malls in the US.) Also the time was a factor. Places were closing at 9 or 10, etc. So we'd find a place on Uber Eats, carefully pick what we want, and then at the end it would say either the place was too far away, or they were closing in ten minutes. Try another place. Same thing. Why is Uber Eats even showing me places that won't deliver to where I am? Ack.
Brian, trying to save the day, shoves his phone in my face and says, "Chinese will be here in 30-40 minutes."
What? Wait, you didn't ask what I wanted? Perturbed. Also, $85. Brian said no, it wasn't supposed to be $85. He had double ordered one item, and there were like $30 in fees - service fee, delivery fee, $8.22 tip, etc. Poor half-blind mess had no idea what he was doing LOL.
Pass the Crown Vanilla. It's time.
He wanted to cancel the order, but the wait to speak to Postmates was 59 minutes. He called the restaurant directly and they had no idea what he was talking about. I started looking at alternatives.
He stayed on hold with Postmates. Then we got a message that the delivery person was here! Brian went downstairs to get it, and and I would make the best of whatever he ordered. Guess what? Nobody was there. Seriously?
By this point, Postmates answered. They tried calling the driver and it went to voicemail. So they refunded him (thank God, the order was nuts) except for the $8 tip. Really?
At this point, I hit "submit" on the Denny's order. Got an error message. AAAAH! Tried again, same error. Brian, what do you want from Burger King?
First Burger King Siri took me to was inside the closed mall. Next one was just closed. I asked for directions to 7-11. $5 pizzas it is. As I followed the directions to 7-11, I saw the Denny's! Pulled over, placed the order in person at 11:20. Expected wait time 15-20 minutes. Cutting it close to get back to the hotel.
By 11:45, Brian called wondering what had happened to me LOL. I mentioned to the employee I was really trying to get back to my family before midnight. It was 2 burgers and some nachos lol. They had only one cook.
At 11:54, they handed me my bag. GPS said I would get back to the hotel at 12:01AM. Nope, that wouldn't do.
Confession: I sped. I ignored a red left turn signal. GPS now said 12:00. As I pulled into the parking lot, Brian (still on the phone) said 1 minute to go. Just had to park and run up the stairs!
Made it to the door at exactly 12:00AM, and B had 2 "glasses" (plastic cups) of champagne ready to go.
This morning, checked my email, saw a notice that my Denny's order was ready at like 11:18. (This was from the order I placed that I thought didn't go through because of the error message!) Haven't even tried to address that yet. But I'm sure I paid twice.
We sure made an adventure out of it!
The hotel was a good move. Definitely fewer fireworks in that area, somewhat muffled by being in a hotel, and Kylie seemed unaffected. We gave her no meds - other than an anti-inflammatory. She is limping again - pretty badly, especially after walking up the stairs to the second floor. From then on, we used the elevator. She was so good. I'm very concerned about her future with all the ailments lately. But we did right by her last night! And Anderson Cooper drunk is priceless!
