This is unusual for us as well. 10 or so inches no big deal. 2+ feet Big bleep Deal! Even the weather critter who always under estimates every snowfall is saying 18+ inches. Note to self fill fridge with wine
Yea, it varies everywhere. The worse one I can ever remember was Valentine's day 2007. At the time I was a supervisor for the municipal bus company in Burlington, Vermont. The amount of snow coupled with the snafu due to sending out the snow removal crews to early was absolutely epic. The forecast called for the heaviest of the snow to be overnight, so they sent out the crews the previous evening while it was snowing but not as much at the time. By the time it got serious the drivers had already put in the maximum safe hours so it was just a small crew trying to keep up with something that was not keep up-able The city itself got over 25 inches of snow in one day. Up to 30 inches in some areas. We couldn't get the buses to keep moving they would just get bogged down or slide sideways into snowbanks and have to be towed out. We had commuter buses that could not get people back home and had to find lodging for them overnight. I turned a corner in a car and rode right up an a snow drift that I couldn't see because by that time there was no depth perception. Absolutely everything was white. Fortunately, there were a couple of guys shoveling nearby and dug snow out from under the car so I could move. I lived 14 miles away and had to sleep in my car overnight. Thankfully the bus barn was close to empty because most of the buses were still stranded in snowbanks. It was the first time in the history of the transit company that they had to shutdown and were unable to continue with scheduled runs, even locally. Burlington, Vt. is built on a substantial hill and most of the main streets run up and down that hill we couldn't get the buses to travel up that grade for more then 40 ft. before it just slide over to one side and that was it. It was close to a week before any streets were back to being two lanes again. I think that was the day that I decided that at some point in the future I was going to become a y'all-er. It took another four years though to finish getting enough put away to retire.

We have more! We transform our house into a Christmas haven. The first time one of my friends walked into my house at Christmastime she said "It looks like Christmas threw up in here!". It might be a bit over the top but we love it!🧑‍🎄🎅🤶

We have a neighbor like that in their front yard.....bout every square inch.....save room for the puffy things to fall down when not in use. This year I got my indoor stuff out and actually took away some.....still a good amount but sometimes less IS more.....made some things really stand out more visually. Did notice alot more people did it way early and can't say more people put up stuff, but it seems to be turned on more.....and enjoyed by all I hope. :D 🎄 🎅

On January 12th, the Prime Minister will meet with some expert guy to discuss the situation and they will announce then whether things can open back up or not. Then the Dutch DMV will go through all the people who had tests scheduled, and they will reschedule tests. So I will get priority over those who didn't have tests scheduled yet, but anyone who already had their test scheduled for after January 19th gets to do their test, and I will have to wait until they have an opening. So it could be months. I scheduled my test a couple of months ago...there's a long waiting list because they were already backlogged from the lockdown from March to June. I guess we'll see, but I almost feel like the universe is trying to tell me something. I had only had 4 lessons when the first lockdown was ordered. So it was 4 months before I could go back to lessons, and it was kind of like starting over, because I had had so few before they were halted. Then I get an instructor who I don't click with and now I'm one lesson away from the road test and there's another lockdown.

Are they still doing those huge piles of burning pallets this year for New Year's? I saw that recently on the Disneyplus Above Europe series recently......wow!

Those snowfalls are serious numbers especially in towns which have huge trees that tower over electrical power lines in neighborhood streets and on top of homes. Too much snow and the weight of it weighing down on the lines is a recipe for huge power outages.

I live outside of "town" as in the word town is a bit of a joke;). Trees higher than all the houses:banghead: I'll have 2 fridges worth of food cooked by the time the storm starts

Even here in NC they are aware that there is always a threat of that. When we do get snow it is usually quite heavy because the atmosphere is warmer and is a lot more water laden. They spend the spring, summer and fall trimming back all the trees that create a threat to power lines. I would think that anywhere on the east coast except Florida would prepare for such a thing.

They do the trimming here all spring and summer here:joyfull: I'm more worried about the idiots who slide into power lines;) If we don't lose power I'll have time to watch some Christmas movies:inlove:
