OK, Thursday is B-day. (Brian's birthday.) I'm sure it will be a little rough after just losing his Dad (although he was in surprisingly good spirits for Thanksgiving) so I wanted to do something but not too much.

That meant Disney was out, although our friend Gary had volunteered to watch Kylie if I wanted to do that.

A nice dinner out, just the two of us...might leave a little too much room for melancholy. Ordering in...same.

Turns out AMC is letting folks rent out a theater for up to 20 socially distanced people. They have limited movies available, but if you pick a recent release, it's $250. If you pick what they call a "favorite" (almost all of which are Christmas or Christmas-adjacent films) it's $99.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation it is! (Other contenders were: Gremlins (watched it again too recently) Elf (too much sappy Dad stuff, and it's on TV every five minutes) A Christmas Story (can't get over the 24 hour marathons of my youth.)

It looks like most of our Thanksgiving pod will be in attendance - Brian, myself, cousin Tif, and Gary. And that's it! No one else LOL. And our AMC is a dine-in with a bar, so it could be fun. It's not a new movie, we can talk if we want to, etc.

For many years, a running gag of mine has been us walking into an establishment that is empty other than the two of us, and I say, "See, I rented out the whole place!" It's not unusual that we are two of maybe 4 to 12 people at a daytime film showing - but this way, we don't have to be at all concerned about sick people showing up, loud people showing up, etc. I will finally get to say, "See, I rented out the whole place!" and mean it! And I think it's totally worth it. If the four of us went to see a standard Thursday movie, it would be nearly $60, anyway. Gotta make the moments where you can, these days.

I shall not be shushed on Lands End sales.

I shall go scream from rooftops so every person in the vicinity knows about the sale.

Especially 60% off. That is quite a sale. I bought three pairs of flats.
SHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had to replace a phone this week. James found a really good deal, so I caved on a mike on Cyber Monday also an excellent deal. His phone and mike together came to under 1/2 of retail just for the phone. I taught him well:inlove:

Sounds like a fabulous idea! And the cost isn't too bad at all. Is popcorn available?

I thought about trying to talk our principal into letting us rent the local theaters for the middle school students for the day before Christmas break (because they could all stay in their "pods" in separate theaters) but alas we are now virtual until January.

Yep, it’s a dine-in theater. Obviously, you pay extra, but popcorn, burgers, apps, booze...all on the menu.

I’m noticing different dates have slightly different movie offerings. Thought about doing this again for my employees if we enjoy it - but not if the COVID numbers keep trending as they are.

That would be a fun idea for employees too. No staff Christmas/Holiday party this year either. So I organizing a Christmas Cheer exchange for staff that want to participate, it is an alcohol exchange (Christmas Cheer). The exchange will happen off school grounds, actually at my porch since I live the closest to school. It is a drop off one day and a pick up a couple days later in the spirit of a White Elephant exchange.
